On May 30, 2026, I visited the Newark location of Elegant Eyes for a eye exam, which I paid for out of pocket! Because Elegant Eyes did not carry the brand of eyeglass frames I wanted, I ordered my glasses online using the prescription they provided. When my glasses arrived, the right lens was extremely blurry and unusable. It immediately seemed that something was wrong with the prescription. So I contacted Elegant Eyes to have the issue resolved. I was referred to a supervisor named Denise. Instead of investigating the possibility that the prescription was incorrect, I was given several different explanations. First, I was told the eyeglass manufacturer may have made an error. Then I was told the problem was because I had not worn glasses in a long time. At one point, Denise even suggested that I had a "lazy eye" lmao. Throughout our conversations, I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than taken seriously. I eventually returned to Elegant Eyes for another examination. During that visit, it was determined that the original prescription was completely incorrect and needed to be changed. This confirmed that the issue was not the manufacturer, my adjustment to wearing glasses, or a lazy eye, but that the optometrist intentionally or unintentionally subscribed a inaccurate prescription. After learning that the original prescription had been wrong, I asked Denise whether Elegant Eyes would offer any compensation for the inconvenience and additional costs I incurred. I was told there was nothing they could do. I did not argue or create a scene, I simply left out of the establishment. Well to make a long story even longer, I was forced to spend an additional $228 to have my glasses corrected. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Elegant Eyes to others. Patients trust eye care professionals with something as important as their vision, and I believe that trust should be matched with accuracy, accountability, and professionalism. Unfortunately, I did not receive any of those from Elegant Eyes.

I just left Elegant Eyes Newark and let me tell you….. THERESA!!!! She is the best. Most professional and thorough customer service we’ve ever gotten while ordering contact lenses. Come here if you want a seamless and quick experience and if they have your Rx you can walk out with trials same day if you order with them. And tell Theresa we said hi!!
This is the worst optical service I have ever experienced in Newark New Jersey. They refused to attend me, my daughter simply because she was coughing, even though she was still wearing a mask. The man who spoke to us was extremely rude, disrespectful, and honestly came across as somewhat racist. No customer should ever be treated with such a lack of professionalism and empathy. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
I went inside to get my glasses tightened up. Because they were very loose. But the experience that I dealt with today was really uncalled for the young lady at the desk took my glasses and went in the back and only thing I said I want them tighten up. She said I told them that, and I was like, okay, and I'm telling them that, and she said, that's my job like I was trying to take her job or something which was very unprofessional for her to say. Then, the guy back there, he got involved in it. And nobody was talking to him. I feel this way, i'm a customer, and every time people walk into that place, they get, they keep their job because no customers, no job.It was very unprofessional for him to go back. And forth with me and I will no longer be doing business with elegant eyes i've never experienced anything like that. And I felt very disrespected and then he had the nerve to say what is going on with me. Nothing is going on with me. The energy in that place was not very positive. And I felt very disrespectful, so it is okay what it is. I'll find some wells to go.I have very good insurance There was no need for you to step in only thing. I said was that I want my glasses tight, and you stepped in? And then you gonna say to me that if I say something, you gonna say something back, don't worry, I'll go somewhere else. Where I'm respected, I did not disrespect her. I would be seventy years old, and that should have been something between me and her.You didn't need to step in, you were just being messy
Very poor services I was denied a pair of glasses that I had purchased, and I was told that they would have to investigate. They sent a claim to my insurance and they processed the claim and they also gave me a receipt which stated more money on the receipt, then what they sent to the insurance company I questioned them about it and they stated that I could not purchase my eyeglasses horrible service. Do not go there.
