This was one of the strangest medical visits I’ve ever had. Dr. Young briefly looked at my eye, left the room, and came back to say he couldn’t help me, offering no explanation, and added that I “wouldn’t want him to help with this”. I was then referred out with no clarity about what was going on. I was surprised to later receive a bill for a visit that provided no diagnosis, treatment, or reassurance. When I called to ask for clarification about the charge, the office manager was extremely rude and dismissive. She maintained that the visit was billable and told me I had 30 days to “sit and think about it”. The lack of communication, compassion, and professionalism was unacceptable. I would not recommend this office to anyone looking for patient-centered care.

Do not waste your time or money on the follow-up visits here. My first visit with Dr. Joshua Young was fine, but the follow-up was a complete joke—literally about 3 minutes. I walked out owing $100 after insurance (meaning they billed insurance even more) and got nothing for it. No real exam, no new information—just a quick “go see a specialist” referral. If you’re going to charge that much for a 3‑minute stop-in, patients deserve a lot more than a brush-off and a referral.
I see why they have a low rating. Get new receptionists who actually know what they are doing. *Update* Nicole reached out to me to rectify the situation. After our call I was told that someone would reach out to me to register me into the system. Unfortunately, that never happened so my one star review is now updated to a 4. They are working with a new system so I can understand why there was a mishap and appreciate it being resolved. I am giving this office a 4 star review because of Raymond (I hope thats his name) and Dr. Young. They were extremely informative, attentive, and professional.
Excellent practice all around! I’ve been a patient of Dr Kahn for several years and I recently moved out of state. My new ophthalmologist messed up my prescription so I came back to Madison Opthamology the next time I was back in NYC. Dr. Kahn spent extra time with me and gave a fantastic, detailed explanation of what went wrong. Luckily I’m in the city regularly for work so I will just stick with them going forward. The Front Desk staff is also very friendly. Highly recommended!
I have been a patient of Dr. Young's for over a decade, and referred multiple patients his way as well. He is thorough and communicative. But his staff have become increasingly less helpful over the time since I have been seeing him.
