The office is nice, clean, professional. I liked the optometrist. They say they are more high-tech than other optometrists.. I wouldn't know if that's true or not. Seemed like they did all the same things.. I went with eye insurance and when we got to the end of the visit, I was quoted nearly $1000 out of pocket AFTER insurance for and eye exam and two pair of glasses. Too pricey for something i can get somewhere else for $700 less.

Dr. Whipple is a fantastic eye doctor. My daughter has struggled for years with her vision and has not been able to see well enough to drive for the past 4 years. Dr. Whipple was able to fit her better than any other eye doctor we have seen and now has 20/25 vision! She will be able to drive now and this is a major life changing difference for her. Thank you for taking the time and the extra effort Dr. Whipple! I also would like to tell the staff at the office they are awesome. So nice and helpful!
Had an appointment today at 1:30, almost had to cancel because I was stressing about a babysitter but luckily I found one last minute. They were a few minutes late so I was unable to leave exactly when I needed to and walked in to my appointment at 1:41 PM. No one was ahead of me so I walked right up and said I was a little late due to my babysitter being late and apologized. Without skipping a beat I was told that there’s a “verrrrry strict” 10 minute policy and I needed to reschedule. I asked because it was literally one minute past that and she wouldn’t even go ask a superior and told me again I needed to reschedule. That’s when I walked out, because I will NOT be rescheduling again as long as this is still Vision CARE and not Vision SOURCE. I had never heard of this and NEVER had a problem in the 4+ years I’ve been a patient. So, I wasted money on the gas to get there and money on a babysitter that I still had to pay. Whatever the new owner situation here is is absolutely terrible and it’s a shame because Dr. Mumford has always been nothing short of wonderful to be seen by. My advice going forward: maybe give a tiny bit of grace. I understand that everyone’s time is valuable, but most of us are barely hanging on out here and sometimes things happen that are out of our control. If it was more than one minute, sure. Fine. I get it. But to be turned away after walking in one minute past the “verrrry strict” deadline without even asking (or even pretending to ask just to make me feel better!!!) is actually just cold. I got in my car to leave and actually broke down in tears for a second because I tried so hard to make it work for nothing. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back for my day. Had I known the policy, I would’ve just paid the cancellation fee instead of risking it and wasting time and energy. If this is something that’s already on the website during scheduling, ya need to put it in a huge permanent banner across every navigation page on there. The healthcare industry has no heart as it is and just being able to afford the eye doctor is a luxury for more people than you think. Do better.
My first time going there on Tuesday. Had an eye exam. Didn't buy anything at all, JUST had the exam to see where my prescription is at. I told them I didnt have my insurance card on me, but I could give them the id#. I also told them why I didn't have it and that id be getting a new one in a few days. They said no, they had to have the actual card. The next day they called me, then Thursday they call me at 8:30 in the morning to demand payment. I tell them I will be coming in that afternoon at 3:45 to see my dad, and I will drop off payment then. They acknowledged what I said.... not even a few hours later they call me AGAIN demanding payment. I tell them that I already told them earlier that day that I will be in at 3:45 to give them money. I have NEVER had a medical profession harrass me so blatantly for money. I've also never had any doctors office be so unprofessional about insurance cards and $129... EVER. All within 2 days!! Stay far away from this optometrist office.
From last year our bill more than doubled...this is without insurance changing at all. Also a year worth of contacts went up $300. Their reasoning is they were bought by a new company. Do your research and maybe try somewhere else. Our family has been with them from the first and we will not go back. The front desk has always been very knowledgable. This time around was a completely different experience.
