Dr. Chen has been truly exceptional in caring for my two children, my parents, and myself. It’s rare to find a doctor who combines professionalism with genuine compassion. I’m often surprised by how quick people are to leave negative reviews for reputable professionals simply because something didn’t match their expectations. Dr. Chen deserves recognition, not criticism. We’re grateful to have him.
Dr. Chen is an independent optometrist located in Costco, in the Millenia area of Orlando. I have had multiple interactions with Dr. Chen. He can be professional and courteous at times but he can also be abrupt, rude, and unjustifiably confrontational. It is very evident that he has little patience for questions or concerns. In short, he needs help with his chairside manner. Dr. Chen has just under 10 years of experience, which is, in my opinion, plenty of time to grow and develop your clinical skills as well as your professional rapport with patients. Dr. Chen clearly lacks the latter of the two. I can't speak to his clinical skills since we will not be returning. Please note that he is independent of Costco - he is his own business entity inside of Costco. Therefore this review is not a reflection of Costco itself; it is purely a review of my personal experience with Dr. Chen. As private paying patients, we will be taking our business elsewhere. As a fellow healthcare practitioner, I am greatly disappointed in the manner in which I was treated. As a business owner, I feel my experience is definitely a deal breaker.
Our family (myself, wife and a daughter) has been going to Dr. Chen's practice inside Costco at Millenia Mall area every year for several years now. We are very satisfied with the service and care he provides. He is very professional and very thorough when examining our eyes. Thank you Dr. Chen, and see you soon !
Please don't waste your time and money. I took my family to have an eye exam as we always think Costco is reliable and customer friendly. The Doctor didn't even check for 2 minutes for each person and didn't even listen to us. We had to spend almost 1 hour to enter the documentation work and wait outside even though we had appointments. Not really sure he did a proper exam or not. The behavior of this person and location is completely awful. Also they told me to come later for dilation and do the proper exam, but unfortunately I couldn't go immediately. But later they asked me to pay for the exam when I wanted. I felt that these guys are not customer friendly and are cheating on the name of Costco.
My husband and I both had eye exams with Dr. Chen. We thought he was thorough, very professional and friendly. He explained the tests and exam results really well.
