We showed up a bit after 1 pm to visit a loved one. When we arrived they took said loved one to physical therapy for what they said would be 10 minutes. Within 5 minutes said loved one was at one of the desks and we took them to thier room. She told us she was lightheaded and needed to get into her bed quickly. Earlier that morning they had an incident of a blood pressure drop, so we took this very seriously. We attempted to notify facility workers that she needed to get in bed quickly otherwise she might pass out. We were told she had to wait 30 minutes for them to do the shift change report. When a person who has had an episode of low blood pressure earlier in the day is made to wait that long I find that to be total neglect. Apparently covering thier own butts with legal jargon was far more important than preventing this loved one from passing out in a wheelchair. It took them 2 minutes to get her into bed, but refused to do so until it was convenient for them. When you go into this industry your supposed to care for people first and foremost, that is the oath they take. For them to ignore it, with full knowledge of the seriousness, because of a shift change report, is diabolically inept. What if she had passed out and slumped to the floor, would they have also told us to wait 30 minutes for the shift change report to be finished? Ontop of this, this loved one has a very bad hip and had a spinal fracture months ago, they still have not supplied her with her prescription pain relief. They have been asking for near a week now and still don't have anything to offer other than Tylenol. How much farther before someone like me needs to call in a state level investigation against this facility? I understand they are severely understaffed, but if its that big of an issue maybe the state needs to shut the facility down and take control in transferring patients to where they can recieve proper care. It's seems that most of the nurses and "doctors" there, are there only for a paycheck, not to rush to help people in need. There is countless issues here that nobody wants to bother to fix. If this continues it will end in the facility being investigated and shut down for various reasons. If I could give lower than 1 star review I would. Absolutely terrible. Saying that there is a few workers there that do understand how aweful it is but are afraid to speak up for fear of loss of employment. Do better, if you don't what ive described is coming for that facility. It's actually a wonder it hasn't been shut down already.

Gowanda rehabilitation and nursing center was a very positive experience for my family and most importantly my father when he was a resident there for over a year. The staff were great from the friendly receptionist to the Drs and nurses and aides.. Amy who handles the financial services was so helpful and knowledgeable she helped make a very difficult transition much easier and answered all my questions and concerns. Bonnie is very compassionate and helpful she helped us in finding an assisted living facility for my farther. I would recommend this facility for anyone that has a loved one in need of assistance
