I had a wonderful first experience with this office. First off, they’re open late some days of the week, which is SO wonderful if you can’t get time off work! But the service really was spectacular. The assistant that saw me, Joey, made me and my fiancé feel like friends of the office and was kind, enthusiastic, and excited to inform us about how eye tests work as we went through setup. Doctor K was professional and clearly knew his stuff. Even the folks who helped us pick out frames seemed personally engaged in my tastes and had fun with it. Highly recommended.

I called because I wanted to schedule an appointment because I don't think my contacts were properly fitted at the place where I previously got my contacts prescription. I tried to ask the person on the phone about my problem regarding my contacts continuously riding up in my eyes and tried to ask if that could be a contacts lens fitting problem, clearly seeking a second opinion examination if my previous provider didn't have it right. She completely ignored my question and asked for personal information to look me up and then stated I have not been a patient there before and went straight to telling me to schedule an exam without acknowledging my concern or answering a simple question. I asked her if she could at least answer my question if that's a possibility before scheduling an exam and then she told me to just go where I last got seen. Very unhelpful and very dismissive. Why would I want to go where I last got seen if they didn't get it right the first time if that is the issue? I don't have money to keep paying if they would get it wrong again like they did the first time, besides I didn't have a good experience where I got my initial exam done and they were not knowledgeable.
I have had more thorough eye exams at different optometrist offices. I was charged way more than my insurance co pay.
My contact order from Lenscrafters was declined because when they called GROphthalmology EGR office, they said my Doctor, Dr. Meador, declined the prescription. When asked by his office staff, the contact lens tech at this office said no one from Lenscrafters called them to verify my prescription. That cant be right bc Lenscrafters was specific in saying the Doctor declined the prescription. It turns out the phone number on the prescription is incorrect, per their office staff. She didnt know what the number on the prescription went to. When I called that number, its to a central GRO database for this large practice with yet another set of phone options to connect with. Its a mess. People at this office are nice. Dr is nice, but the backend service and processes are messed up. Im out over $300 for getting contacts that are the wrong prescription, trying to reorder via Lenscrafters and not getting approval from a system thats really messed up at GR Ophthalmology.
Grand Rapids Ophthalmology does NOT care about bad experiences their customers have. Each time they said to leave a message with one of the top people (Amy I believe) about a bad experience I had with one of their doctors, I never heard back. They never followed up, never wrote in my chart regarding the issue or wrote down my request to not be seen by that doctor again. Dr. Schultz made me so uncomfortable and acted so annoyed that my children were with me. If I asked to redo seeing a comparison he acted annoyed. When I asked a question about my previous script compared to what he was going to write me, he was annoyed and gave me a super short answer. I didn't understand his answer but felt uncomfortable to ask him to explain it more as I could tell he couldn't wait to be done. He had such an attitude and made me feel uncomfortable trying to make sure my results were accurate. Our presence irritated him. Between him and the head lady not returning multiple calls - Terrible way to treat customers. Now I have been stuck without perscription glasses for the majority of the year and have had many migraine headaches because I cannot process a bad script.
