I genuinely hate to leave a negative review but maybe this will help resolve the situation. I came in for a routine eye exam for glasses on October 11. It was a very good exam and I appreciated Dr Wong’s kindness and thoroughness. He told me they would order a pair of trial contact lenses and would order the glasses for me. Flash forward to late November and I don’t have either of those things, and when I call to see what’s going on with them they tell me that it takes a while because the contacts are custom for astigmatism. I wait and wait, and then in January i call to say forget about the contacts, are the glasses ready? They say oh yeah they’re here, come get them. They had never once called me to tell me the glasses were ready, so who knows how long they were sitting there or in hindsight if that was even true. Then the fires happened, so it was a couple weeks later when I came to pick them up and now they’re no where to be found. I went to the office and they just cannot find the glasses. That was 8 days ago, and they were supposed to call me back when they found them. Now, no one is answering the phone and their voicemail is full. Even though Dr. Wong is a great optometrist and a nice person, it is just a very disorganized practice, and now I have to contest with my insurance to have another eye exam with another doctor. A total headache.

I’m LA native from Topanga Cyn. While all small groups of doctors were all we had and much preferred. Now days, health is not a concern just large corporations running factories of pill mills and or little time for really diagnosis, pills before actual testing and deductive reasoning. Over it, Ucla was a nightmare, waiting for referrals due to overcrowding systems, fortunately I was referred to this wonderful human being that put time before $$$ always a great outcome, will refer many more people to him. Gotta keep small local caring businesses alive and thriving ❤️🙏 Kelly H.
Honest, Caring, Upfront. I don't want to go anywhere else. I was referred here through a special program under my insurance. As someone who is high risk for Covid, I have been afraid to go anywhere. My worker through said program called ahead and they confirmed that they would wear a mask. When I showed up, Dr. Wong was not wearing a mask & reminded me that health care professionals are no longer required 2 wear masks, however he put a mask on for me. It was very quiet which was really nice. I get anxious around people and if there's a lot going on. I have had medical appointments elsewhere where I got too worked up & walked right out/just couldn't do it Dr. Wong took the time to explain everything, including what my insurance would or not cover. I had an issue when I had my eyes tested as part of my claim for disability. I was worried because I had a visual disturbance during one of the eye tests for SSA where I saw colors overlayed over one of my eyes during a test, however the doctor told me my visit was over when I expressed my concerns about the test being messed up. Dr. Wong listened 2 my concerns and explained 2 me that was a visual field test & that it had no bearing on my eye prescription. I have had worstening eyesight and undiagnosed blood sugar problems as well as signs of retinal detachment (I get dizzy when I shower which is a low blood pressure thing, and low blood pressure can cause retinal detachment. Low blood sugar also causes low blood pressure. If your sugar and/or blood pressure swing too far one way or another, it damages your eyes.), which no other doctor would take seriously. Dr. Wong actually listened to me and explained who I can go to get referrals to finally get tested under my insurance & how it would be covered/what would be covered beyond the basic glasses and eye test every once every 2 years that I can now go seek medical care for my progressive vision loss. My eyes were worsening by a diopeter every 2 years and suddenly they worsened by an entire diopeter in only a year! So yes, I needed to know this information however no other eye doctor would ever tell me. They would listen to my concerns and brush them off. Dr. Wong is a good doctor who listens to & cares about patients. I have a hard time finding glasses I like, and I spent over 2 hours trying and retrying glasses. I did not feel pressured or rushed. Dr. Wong even told me upfront before I started trying on glasses that I could leave and come back another day to make a decision on glasses. Something I appreciate is that Wong was patient with me, and didn't make it seem like a hassle to keep reopening a locked case from which I tried multiple pairs. Of the frames I was interested in for sunglasses (I am sensitive to sunlight), they both cost less than the lowest out of pocket frames for any other optometry place I have seen anywhere else. I went somewhere else because insurance had sent me there, only to have a small tray of glasses which were covered. Here they had multiple displays of glasses which were covered under MediCal which is better than everywhere else I have been. If you have children, there were 2 locked displays of children's glasses with toys in the displays for people to look at, at kid eye level, and there was a children's display out too. I saw there were movie themed glasses.l, however I am low vision. One looked like a Spiderman pair. Also, there is a donated pair rack. If you have glasses you no longer use, you can donate your glasses and then people who cannot afford those frames can use those to have lenses made. There was also signage for colored contact lenses I forgot to ask about. Think like those vanity contact lenses to change your eyes, only this is prescribed. My biological father is an ER doctor and warned me never to get Halloween contacts because they can cut into your eyes and damage them permanently and he had seen cases of this. If you get prescription contacts, they are based on your eye measurements which protects against this happening.
Dr. Wong gave me the most thorough and accurate eye exam that I've ever had. He also takes the time to educate you about eye health. I highly recommend Dr. Wong.
The most friendly and thorough eye exam I have ever had! Strongly reccomend.
