Hess Pediatric Ophthalmology Specialists

Since my child received a referral, I was very selective when choosing a specialist. I scheduled an appointment through Johns Hopkins, and I couldn’t be happier with our experience. My son is only 2 years old, but he absolutely loved the doctor. He felt comfortable, confident, and acted like such a big boy during the visit. The doctor was incredibly kind, patient, and professional. He did an amazing job explaining everything and made us both feel at ease. I left the appointment feeling relieved and very satisfied with the care we received. I highly recommend this practice to families in the Sarasota, Bradenton, and St. Petersburg areas. It was absolutely worth driving more than 40 miles for such excellent care!

We had an urgent matter and needed to be seen ASAP. Our pediatrician referred us and we were able to get in right away. We did have a long way, but that would be expected when they snuck us into the schedule. Dr. Hess was WONERFUL! He explained each and every tool he was using with our 3.5 year old. He made her feel comfortable and explained everything very thoroughly. If only all pediatric doctors were just like Dr. Hess. 10/10!! I’d highly recommend!

Dr Elliott was amazing! My daughter is terrible with doctors and he made her feel at ease after being a little apprehensive. He distracted her with a lot of skill, and she did perfectly fine after that. Thank you so much!

Dr Hess is an excellent eye surgeon! I’ve had 3 strabismus surgeries on my left eye, I through the years, which were painful. I was scared at my age to have another surgery; Being a RN, elevated my fear; however, since my cataract surgery, the muscle became weaker, causing my eye to pull all the way out as well as limit my peripheral vision, due to partial obstruction of my lower lid.i was also paranoid to look directly at people. Dr Hess, came highly recommended from 3 eye physicians; he’s very knowledgeable and great casual bedside manner. I’m so pleased that my discomfort was minimal post operative, honestly my throat was the most painful from the anesthesia. ( hot tea with honey, lozenges, salt gargles, as well as Advil or Tylenol) Dr Hess, is always available for any questions, which he actually called me the next day, instead of his staff! My takeaway- sorry, I didn’t do this sooner!!

I just want to say Dr.Hess did a PHENOMENAL job on my daughter's eye surgery . My daughter's 4yrs old and Dr.Hess has been her eye doctor since birth.Dr.Hess is also a PHENOMENAL DOCTOR,very knowledgeable. A very friendly environment. Dr. Hess Thank you so much.
