Great physician and staff. I have been trusting in his care for more years than I can count. He did cataract removal and laser treatments in office and if he thinks you need treatment beyond his specialty, he founds you the best.

The 1st time I went he was quite professional and impressive. I went next door or actually across the hall from his office to the optometrist who works with the actual glasses/contacts. Wasted a month trying to get fitted for contacts. Ms. Sullivan was disorganized and incompetent guessing at what works. Didn't even bother going back to see BW Phillips. Took my glasses prescription to another local optometrist. After a week of wearing them I still could not see out of my right lense! Went back to McCracken a 2nd time who checked my eyes twice--each time was a week a part. My NEW prescription was totally different than the first one with all new numbers!! My eyes and my glaucoma did not change that much in 3 months- the time between my 1st and 2nd appointments! The new glasses were made fine per his 1st prescription; however, it was just wrong!!! Upon my 2nd visit he was defensive saying in his 35 years he never had such an experience. The staff was defensive as well! It wasn't my fault that they wrote down the wrong numbers and messed up on the 1st prescription! I would NOT recommend him to my worst enemy as his set up with the optometrist across the hall with Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Phillips is severely lacking as his own quality of practice!

Dr Mc Cracken has been my Opthamologist for 30 years or more. I have seen several different Optometrists and Opthamologists in my 40 plus years here in Durham. Dr McCracken is by far the most thorough and methodical eye doctor I have ever met. He is a sincere, honest and truthful.

I have high confidence in Dr. McCracken and his staff. His exams are thorough. He explains what he sees and its implication. He is not rushed and answers questions. He is truly concerned for his patients.

Saw him for an unexpected eye injury this summer. The staff was friendly and I received efficient, effective treatment. If I had eye issues again (hopefully not!), I would definitely see them again.
