Dr. DIETLEIN has performed 1,000's of cataract surgeries and I was so impressed that I am flying back to the Austin area from Atlanta to have him do the other eye! The staff at the Surgery Center were first class with their professionalism, kindness, care & expertise. I felt well taken care of from start to finish.

Do not recommend this practice! Charges extra for your prescription when you completed eye test! My 83 yr old mother waited over 45 minutes over her apt time.(.but if YOUR late your not seen.) After she had full eye exam and tests completed, she asked for her RX copy and they quoted an extra charge. This is so you purchase glasses only from them!. My mother decided to not pay the extra at this time. A week later she returned with the cash to get a copy…and they said she’d need ANOTHER eye test done to get one! I got her a different eye clinic. This place packs people in and out so fast and uncaring, seems only the profit counts. I walked out after a 48 minute wait!…my time is as important as Dietleins. Many better places around that will treat you with fairness and respect!

I've been going to Dietlein eye center for over 10 yrs along with other members of my family. Even after I moved to Austin I continued using this eye center because I thought it was good practice to stay with a doctor and facility that would treat you well for your loyalty to their business. I was mistaken about this place, in the middle of this pandemic I scheduled an appointment over a month and ten days away because that was the earliest date I could come in. I'm a teacher so I had to take off from work and students to go to this appointment. I knew what day the appointment was but was unsure of the time so I called in that morning to verify the time, and told them I was running late when they said my appointment was scheduled 20 minutes from my call. They said there was a twenty minute window for tardiness and I walked through the door at 21 minutes late. They refused to see me and sent me home. My frustration lies with an office staff that is too unprofessional to send any sort of communication through phone text or email that would have helped me be on time to my appointment. In turn I've wasted an instructional day and not gotten my eyes checked. Thanks Dietlein I'm glad to know that your staff can't follow through with simple communication that a Wal Mart eye center is more capable off. Needless to say I'm not coming back and I'm pretty sure none of my family is going to as well.

Dr. Deitlien performed my cataract surgery in December of 2023. Eight months later my eye is no better (and perhaps a little worse) than it was before the surgery. I diligently put erythromycin ophthalmic ointment on my lower eyelid every light, but is hasn’t helped. Very disappointed!

I needed to have Cataract surgery and my Retina doctor referred me to Dr. Deitlein. His office staff are very prompt, thorough and very friendly. Dr. Deitlein was excellent in evaluating me. Today was my surgery and it was a very nice experience. This evening I received a followup call from Dr. Deitlein just checking on me. I will recommend him to everyone needing professional eye care.
