I highly recommend Kaufman Eye Isntitute to anyone seeking exceptional eye care. From the moment I arrived, the entire staff was professional, courteous, accommodating, and genuinely committed to providing outstanding patient care. Dr. Kaufman was especially impressive. He took the time to thoroughly explain my condition, answer all of my questions, and discuss the various treatment options available to me. I never felt rushed during my appointments. Instead, I felt that my concerns were heard and that every effort was made to ensure I understood my diagnosis and the recommended course of treatment. What sets this practice apart is the level of professionalism, compassion, and attention they provide to their patients. The providers spend the necessary time educating patients about their conditions, carefully reviewing treatment options, and helping them make informed decisions about their care. My experience with this office has been excellent, and I am grateful for the outstanding service I received. I would highly recommend Dr. Kaufman and the entire team to anyone looking for knowledgeable, caring, and patient-focused ophthalmology care.

Very disappointed with this experience. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Kaufman for over six years, but this visit will unfortunately be my last. I arrived early for my 9:45 a.m. appointment, only to find the front desk backed up out the door. The check-in process was extremely slow and disorganized, it took over 10 minutes just to check in the two patients ahead of me. Once I was finally taken back, the experience only got worse. I was moved from room to room multiple times, three different exam rooms and the waiting room twice, while my appointment was still in progress. One assistant started my exam, then asked me to wait outside. Another assistant later took me to a different room, where Dr. Marquis dilated my eyes. After that, I was again asked to leave the room and wait in the waiting area. At this point, my frustration grew, especially when I noticed two patients who arrived after me were seen and escorted to checkout before I was. It felt like musical chairs, not a professional medical office. By 11:15 a.m., I was placed in a third room after already spending significant time waiting. I could hear the doctor in the hallway, yet she continued seeing other patients. By 11:35 a.m., after waiting more than an hour and a half with dilated eyes, I finally spoke up because I had another appointment to get to. I was shocked that the staff actually asked if I wanted to reschedule—after all that waiting and already being dilated. The obvious solution would have been to simply finish my visit. The entire office was chaotic and poorly managed. The staff and assistants seemed unorganized and inexperienced, and there was a clear lack of communication about which patient was supposed to be seen next. When I finally checked out around 11:45 a.m., I was told, “We’re having a bad day.” I would call it a complete lack of organization, customer service, concern, and compassion. I had to laugh when I remembered this office received an award in 2019 for best eye clinic. Based on this experience, I can’t imagine that happening again unless serious changes are made.

We have been with Kaufman Eye Institute for 16 years and we are never leaving. Everyone associated with this facility is top notch. They are knowledgeable, professional, attentive when treating you and downright friendly. We have had our regular eye exams there and gotten our glasses there for 16 years and have NEVER been disappointed. Additionally, my husband has had his iritis (associated with his arthritis) and pre glaucoma treated there. His cataracts were removed several years ago, and after having worn glasses for more that 50 years, he is thrilled! Love everything and everyone associated with Kaufman, and I have frequently recommended them to new Sun City Center neighbors.
