I attended for a lasik eye consultation in Nov, Paid over $200 for an eye exam. it took them 3 months to finally have the main Doctor to review my eyes. Each month I call them for an update, they keep saying they will contact me when the Doctor completed, but they never did. In Mid February, I called back again, and was given an approval. Its just disappointing that I have to call them for my own update. So I got an appointment for lasik, and request a day off work for surgery. They prescribe me medication to pick up from Pharmacy, it cost $100 without insurance. On the day of my appointment for surgery, 2 hours before driving to Buena Park Lasik Eye Center, I was given a call that my appointment was canceled and told me to call them back in 6 MONTHS. There wasn't much explanation to why its been delayed for 6 months. Two hours before surgery cancellation was so unprofessional. They had 3 MONTHS!

I’m sure this business conducts itself illegally. I scheduled to see an opthamologist for my glaucoma condition and confirmed with the scheduler that I was being seen by Ophthalmologist, Dr. Yun Kim. I was seen by an Optometrist, Dr. Jack Kim instead. I’m pretty sure the billing reflects an opthamology consultation visit though. It just feels very sketchy and uneasy. It didn’t help that front desk lady was very rude and unprofessional, both at the visit, and prior to the visit by phone. Since I provided my DL and insurance card prior to my appointment, I wasn’t aware I also needed to bring in a physical copy. This lady scolded me for not having it and told to bring it next time. Then the technician called me back, without introducing herself. I asked if she was the doctor, she replied no that she was only a technician. She then asked if I wore glasses and to put them on for testing. I told her that I didn’t know to bring them and she said it was okay and continued to conduct a vision test, and some other tests. I saw an optometrist, Dr. Jack Kim. I only discovered that he wasn’t an opthamologist after my visit when I researched him. He properly introduced himself and was very kind and polite, but does not have the credentials to diagnose and treat my glaucoma. Near the end of my appointment, Dr. Yun Kim came into the patient room, talked to Dr. Jack and then talked at me, never introducing herself. It made sense now why Dr. Yun came in talking directly to Dr. Jack because he was looking for her guidance on my glaucoma condition, as if he was waiting to be trained while practicing as an ophthalmologist. She was very abrasive and got triggered by me wanting to send over my previous opthamology-related medical records for their review. (I only offered to send my records over because it’s better doctors to know what the baseline was and how conditions developed or worsened, rather than take a snapshot of time). Dr. Yun said she refuses to review records that aren’t from her facility and insisted that it was not needed. Dr. Yun then questioned me on why I have changed doctors and told me it was better to keep the same doctor. I replied that not everyone has the luxury of keeping the same doctor, especially with job changes and insurance changes. Then she walked off and out of my patient room as quickly as she walked in. I was told to schedule a 1-month follow up for further testing and given no discharge instructions to address my eye pain and chronic dry eye. At my prompting, Dr. Jack explained that my eye pain is likely due to needing reading glasses (at age 40). He then told me to look away to give me eyes a break. It felt like he listed off at random some other things I could try, then said he didn’t want to overwhelm me and just said to give my eyes breaks and to return in a month to report back how that helped, then we could try something else. I asked about whether the eye pain was related to my car accident and he backtracked saying it might be due to lack of reading glasses or the car accident and that he didn’t know. I then asked why I was scheduled out an entire month for further testing, he said that he wants to see how effective his recommended eye breaks are. It all felt uncomfortable and makes me anxious about what care I would receive.
Usually you go to a medical office and an employee/nurse/PA talks to you most of the time, and the doctor wants to spend as little time with the patient as possible. This is the only medical office I've been to in my life where the doctor EAGERLY talks you through the entire history of lasik, goes through all the positives/negatives/risks of each type of operation, defends his choice of operation, details the entire process, answers all your questions, and still goes on for over an hour. You can tell Dr. Lee really enjoys his craft. The office staff were all kind, friendly, and homely as well.
I had an unpleasant experience with this business, specifically the old asian lady who answered my phone call today on March 6, 2025, around 12:30 PM. I called to schedule an appointment and was placed on hold for 20 minutes while they checked my insurance. After waiting, I called back to inquire about the wait time, and the staff member raised her voice, shouting that they'd call once the check was complete. When I politely asked again for an estimated time, she yelled, claiming it was because I called during lunch hours. This could have been communicated earlier to avoid unnecessary waiting. When I mentioned her rude behavior, she responded defensively. I asked for her name to report the incident, but the overall interaction was unprofessional and disrespectful. I wouldn't recommend this business due to the poor customer service. My mom, wanting to give this business a second chance, called to resolve the issue, thinking it was a mistake on the staff's end. However, she was met with the same rude behavior right away. She told my mom I had no common sense prior to talking during lunchtime. A while I understand there might be concerns, the staff member answered, put me on hold, and didn’t mention anything about not calling at that time. She then implied that my mother and I have communication issues due to her limited English, which was not the case. We understood each other perfectly until she snapped. English is not our first language either, but I am educated and have manners knowing communication should be handled respectfully which is what this staff can receive better training on. The entire interaction was unprofessional, disrespectful, and disappointing. I would not recommend this business due to the rude and unaccommodating staff. To the staff I talked with earlier today, I pray you’re met with grace and kindness, despite our interaction today. I’m sorry you're struggling, maybe you’re sick, but I hope you have the day you deserve. Karma always finds a way.
Went to clinic on the dot of appointment. This appointment was made 3 months ago. Received a confirmation message days ago before departure. The front desk kept insist to telling they tried to call doctor won't make so to reschedule, yet did not received any of these! Isn't it logic to send message or voice message if the call won't go through? Yet, they did not and even apologized for this matter. Overall, they were very rude and terrible customer service. If there was an option of no star or minus star, I would give that.
