The first time I visited the Murphysboro office was in 2009 when I first moved to the town. Life happened and we moved around only to return back to the same small town. My experience then was just as pleasant as my most recent visit in the beginning of March. The staff was very welcoming. They got both me and my kids in right away. They answered all of my questions and even handled my struggle to find the perfect frame for my new prescription without one ounce of annoyance. I appreciate all of the kindness they have shown during my and my kids visits. The current doctor is absolutely amazing. She was very sweet and forward with explaining everything about each of our prescriptions and recommendations on how to help my kids adjust to their new glasses. She took her time with my 4 year old son, who is not the easiest when it comes time to assess in any situation if you dont take the extra time to explain nd show things to him. They all pitched in where needed and he is actually excited to get his first pair of glasses thanks to their positive energy. I absolutely recommend this place.

Update: I’m now giving two stars after how rude a staff was to me. After going back to grab my glasses and get them fitted. I was given my glasses from the front desk. The lady there didn’t ask if they needed adjustments at all. I told her I needed adjustments. Instead of heating up the arms of the glasses and bending them that way, she just bent them with her hands. I had to keep asking her to keep bending them because her just bending them with her hands wasn’t doing anything. By the third time of asking her I could tell she was getting annoyed so I just left with glasses that didn’t fit correctly. Really disappointed with how I was treated going back since when I was there for my appointment the staff was so amazing. I’m giving three stars mostly because of the staff. The staff and the lady who looked at my eyes first before the doctor are amazing people. They are always kind and very helpful in trying to help you. Also because my prescription has always been right and glasses have been ready on time. I’m not giving five stars because of the doctors I’ve seen the past year. The first time I saw a doctor for new glasses was because I lost mine. This was in early 2025. I was told my prescription changed drastically since the last time I have gone. I was told I absolutely needed to get two pairs of glasses because I’m a danger to people and myself while driving. That my eyes were so terrible. I can still see signs and everything around me perfectly fine. I felt like it was a ploy to get me to get a second pair by fear mongering. I also felt insulted by what he said to me that “I’m a danger to others.” Now a year later I went back again early 2026. I now have a new doctor and he was a little bit better than my first one. Although he did lie to me telling me my prescription changed drastically since a year ago, that my eyes were getting worse, and told me I really need new glasses. He made it sound like my eyes were declining fast and were horrible. I went to ask a staff member how much did my prescription change since 2025. It only changed by a little bit. The staff is absolutely amazing. I just wish the doctors I have seen would stop fear mongering to get me to buy glasses when I either don’t need them or don’t need a second pair. It’s not very professional. So please always check with the staff how much your prescription changed.

Not great so far. Called the Murphysboro office months ago to make appointments for my two 3 year olds. I go in the day of the appointment to find out that they scheduled it at Carbondale’s location because this one doesn’t allow two family members to have an appointment on the same day. So I then rushed to Carbondale to do the appointments. Just to find out that they were going to do dilation that would make them blurry all day. Was never told that and I wouldn’t assume 3 year olds needed that. So I had to reschedule. Carbondale office said that they have to do my kids separately. I asked to do them together again and they said no. I said in that case, can I just do the Murphysboro office since I live closer to there. They said go ahead and call them. I called Murphysboro’s office and they made the appointments for the same day again in Summer. I had to ASK where it would be, and once again it was the Carbondale office. STOP scheduling people at different offices that they DID NOT call without telling them! How would they know!? I just had to reload and unload my kids multiple times because the communication here did not exist.

Shame on your policies. I understand you shouldn't miss appointments but if there has been a death in your family everyone should be understanding in the way and time it takes when someone is grieving. Absolutely Ridiculous

They called to reschedule my vision appt for an earlier date, I thought great, but after I got my prescription they told me Im not eligible on my insurance for glasses until January, so my prescription will already be a few months old. Kind of shitty, Im taking the prescription and going elsewhere or buying online, shady business. Do not work well with people with IDD, even when told what accommodations are needed, would not allow extra time to process/answer and my friend was told they couldn't give her a new prescription because they couldn't do the test. She is SO easy to work with. My first visit I had to come back another day to pick glasses because they overscheduled and were closing, told me after I had waited over 45min
