Not impressed. I remember when this was the greatest best priced store 30 years ago in Hudenville, MI. Shopped there every time I visited my Parents b4 Meighers came to IL. Just in Oswego, IL visiting from Vegas. Not the Store I used to know. Very sad.

Good place open late. Only thing is I said multiple times have a good night. I said thank you to the cashier once I was leaving. I understand that it’s late and you had a long shift but hey one you’re welcome one have a good night. It goes a long way, especially when I said it over three times so yeah maybe just have a good night, sir have a good day, sir would go a long way when I say have a good night, the cashier looked at me and didn’t even say anything maybe have some manners and say something back like have a good night or even just give me a response rather than just ignoring me I mean I get it it’s late but have some manners. I just told you to have a good night. I didn’t cause any problems and I’m just asking you thank you and have a good night and you decide to just not answer anything I say. This happened at 11:52 PM at the cashiers lane Next time have a better attitude, and if I’m causing you a problem, which I clearly didn’t maybe it’s time to find a new job.

I normally have positive experiences at Meijer, which is why this interaction stood out enough for me to leave a review. During checkout, I was managing my young child while unloading groceries. I placed a slightly heavier item on the belt and was given a lecture about staff safety rather than a polite reminder that heavier items could stay in the cart. A kinder approach would have gone a long way. The more upsetting part involved a pair of shoes that did not have a tag attached. Instead of asking for assistance or communicating directly with me, the cashier muttered comments under her breath implying that I should have “paid attention” and noticed the missing tag myself. I ended up running back to get another pair with a tag while she continued trying random numbers rather than requesting help. I understand retail is stressful, and I always try to be patient and respectful with employees. However, this interaction left me feeling embarrassed and shamed over a situation that could have been handled with basic courtesy and communication. I hope this feedback encourages a more empathetic approach toward customers, especially parents who are already trying to manage children and a busy checkout experience.

The fact that Meijer lets 30+ people line up in front of their store in the morning to scalp children's toys is despicable. I'm taking my business elsewhere. Allowing resellers to clear your shelves while leaving the kids with nothing is unacceptable.
