1st off I thought they were going to be good. 2nd visit he says yep that’s what I thought, while looking in my eyes. I asked what do you see. (NO ANSWER). I said I get a little blurring in my right eye. He said oh yeah you have a small cataract. All done no more said. My significant other went there. Has insurance not a problem right! Think again. Did the eye exam and all that they do and gave him a prescription for glasses. Oh now you need too pay $200.00 because you have high blood pressure. They said now it’s medical problem. Why would they do the exam, give him prescription if it were medical. They didn’t do anything medical for him. They didn’t even take his blood pressure. He was told that they can’t bill the insurance because it’s medical now. I called his insurance explained the situation they told they need to send us the bill. Called and talked to the office manager. When I say she was rude I’m talking nasty nasty nasty person. She said I’m not billing them and that is it and I am busy and don’t have time for you. NEVER EVER GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT HONESTY AND TO BE TREATED AS A PERSON NOT A DOG!!! Worst place ever in my opinion.

From the moment I walked into Metro Eyecare at the Altoona Office, I knew this wasn’t going to be your typical eye care experience. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and full of positive energy, it’s the kind of place where even a full waiting room feels enjoyable. When laughter fills the space, and the staff is having fun, you can tell the staff genuinely care about their patients and each other. The team of professionals that were onsite the day of my appointment were incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. They take the time to listen, answer questions, and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. I never felt rushed, instead, I felt supported in making the best decisions for my vision and style. One of my favorite parts was the wide variety of frame options available. I truly appreciated having the chance to explore different looks and find something that felt just right for me. The staff was helpful without being pushy, offering guidance, while still allowing me to make a choice I felt confident in. Overall, this is an eye care experience that stands out. From the moment I entered, to the time I left, I felt the genuine investment the team has for me as a patient. Highly recommend!

I used to go to the one in Ankeny a couple years back and loved it. I went to the Altoona location last year and the doctor was amazing. She was attentive, so nice and knowledgeable. But the front office staff was extremely dismissive and acted as though I was “putting them out” by being there. Again, that was about a year ago so I’m not sure if things have improved, but judging from recent reviews, others are experiencing the same thing(s). Would definitely come back for an exam, but I wouldn’t come back to purchase glasses/frames.

I would never recommend this business to anyone. The front desk staff is incredibly disrespectful. They treated both my child and myself as though they were better than us, annoyed we were there and were incredibly dismissive. When asking for some information they refused to answer. Hoping I could get a general answer from our medical records, I asked for these and was told by the front desk she would mark out that information. The dr seemed to be in a rush and she has very poor bedside manner. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

We will never do business here again. EVER. My daughter has a 200$ frame allowance but there aren't any frames for that cost available in the store. I was charged 75$ for the simple fact that I have had cataract surgery. Since my surgery I have had numerous pairs of glasses and never paid more than my co pay. There was nothing different about the exam. There was another 45$ charge for refraction I was not told about up front. They no longer accept care credit either which is how I usually pay for eye visits. It's pretty sad that my child could not get a pair of glasses with a 200$ allowance. What is this world coming to.
