Giving 3 stars due to having great experiences the past two years. The Doctor is great. The exams have always been wonderful. But, today I was disappointed in the experience with the purchasing of glasses and wanted to throw out a warning to all. My inurance is pretty good and always covers the cost of the glasses. Today, the girl told me I was going to owe an additional $55. When I asked why, she told me that she tacked on a two year extended warranty WITHOUT my permission or even asking if I wanted it. This has never happened here before. The glasses are warranted for a year anyways and my insurance covers glasses yearly. When I asked her why she would do that without asking, she told me it was so they could bring the cost down if it was too much instead of adding it on later and raising the cost. Huh??? That was one of the saddest excuses I've ever heard for adding unwanted charges to my bill. That's a very shady business practice. I absolutely did not expect them to start the practice of adding things to my bill without my knowledge or consent. I literally had to ask if there were any other hidden charges on my bill that she added that I didn't know about. She said no. My daughter's glasses were $5 after insurance, not $55. So be warned....go through the charges with fine-toothed comb before agreeing to purchase from them.

The office staff has been inept in the last three visits. The person staffing the front desk did not seem to understand how to check patients in and out. The machine that was supposed to be used on my visit was not operating so the tech mentioned that was nice because we could get done sooner. As I was being moved the next room another office staffer stepped in front of me and took a young boy in to the room. We stood in the hall until my tech suggested that we go to another room and try some other tests there. The doctor was the only person that was professional and competent.
Our appointments go fairly smooth, optometrists are helpful at answering questions and performing the exams; however, over 7 days I called every day and got a voicemail, left a message each time, and got 0 responses or returned calls. I simply needed a copy of my son’s prescription emailed to me. That’s it. Instead I drove to the facility and asked for a printed copy. Ridiculous.
I have been going here 7-8 yrs and have been very happy with the care the Drs and staff have provided. They observed issues and made a timely referral to a retina specialist. Everyone at Midwest Eye on Lima Rd has been.courteous and helpful. I had to go to their DuPont Offuce a couple of times and prefer the Lima Rd location as they are quicker and not nearly as crowded feeling.
Oh, where do I start? If giving zero stars were an option, I’d snap it up in a heartbeat. Go anywhere else, trust me, you’ll thank yourself. The receptionist? Absolutely delightful, if you enjoy rudeness as a service. The phone system? Pure genius: it just rings somewhere in the back like magic, and no one answers. And the staff? Masters of excuses: “UPS lost it,” “the snow delayed it,” “we didn’t send it,” “oh, we forgot”, so impressive, it’s almost an art form. Want kids’ glasses? Only a casual 6–8 week wait! And when you get them… drumroll… just basic reading glasses. Nothing to write home about. Honestly, I can’t figure out how they’re still open. But hey, if wasting time and patience is your thing, knock yourself out.
