I'm a new patient to Mountain Vista Eye Care. I came in for an eye exam in January and was told to come back for additional glaucoma testing. I did just that, only to have the machine not work and the testing be incomplete. Instead of getting a call about coming back in, which never occurred, I instead find an invoice in the mail for $20. While not earth shattering, I'm upset with this entire experience. First, there was a complete lack of transparency. My routine eye exams have always been covered by insurance. There was nothing to notify me that the glaucoma testing may incur me charges. I would think you would go over this before the testing instead of sending a surprise invoice. Second, the invoice itself says NOTHING about glaucoma testing! I'm not a medical professional or billing expert. I have no idea what these terms on the invoice mean: -Expanded Low Comp, Est. -Goniscopy -Scanning CODI Postw/IR: Optic Nerve -Corneal Pachymetry, Uni or Bi Colorado has several robust laws such as the Comprehensive Health Care Billing Transparency Act (HB18-1358) to guard against these very practices. Honestly, it shouldn't be hard to use plain english and say the bill is for glaucoma testing. Moreover, the testing was never fully completed! The machine, I believe for spatial fields, was not functional when I came back in for testing. Why would I get billed for a service that wasn't completed! Also, I never received a call letting me know the machine was working again for me to come back. This is terrible patient care. Finally, I called the number on the invoice and reached someone who was of no help, said they couldn't do anything about the bill and told me they were just the guy to collect the payments. This is not about $20. It's about highlighting my bad experience and your awful business practices and lack of patient care. I suppose my search for a good eye Dr. will have to continue and I hope that losing a patient over $20 was worth it to your practice.

The purpose of this review is to inform people of the cash price (uninsured) of their comprehensive eye exam. When I called, and before giving me the cash price, the representative on the phone was trying to sell me some sort of insurance product. I declined. The exam costs 275 USD as of the day of this review. I have not yet signed up for an appointment. I rated 3 stars because of the attempted insurance sale.
Took my daughter here to get glasses twice The 1st time went ok. The doctors are great and the eye exam went well. However the second time we went when it came time to actually receive her glasses it took 4 months to even get a pair of single lens glasses when she was supposed to be getting bifocals... Then a total of 7 months to get her bifocals. There was very little communication and I had to be the one to reach out each time. By the time she got the glasses she was initially supposed to get, it was time for a new eye exam. 🤦♀️ They did try to make it up to us with a gift card and credit towards her glasses... but it definitely was a big hassle. Everyone is very kind and it's a nice building/office... But ya waiting months for glasses and not getting any type of communication unless initiated by me is kind of crazy.
My family has been using MVEC for several years now, and I purchased [surprisingly] expensive eyeglasses from them two years and 3 months ago. After less than 1 year the frames were coming apart, and they replaced them under warranty. Now, the lenses have failed, with the AR coating becoming swirly and distorted. Coincidentally, the customer in front of me had the exact same issue, which is telling. They were not willing to replace the short lived lenses citing the warranty had expired. Costing over $600, I would expect them at least last as long as my still-good-as-new $150 4.5 year old Costco glasses, which likewise have the same AR coatings. Bottom line - good eye exams, friendly staff, crazy expensive glasses, low quality frames and lenses lab, disappointing customer post-care. When paying a premium price, premium customer care is expected. Taking my family's eyecare elsewhere now.
All I can is say is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Vassau. She is just a beautiful human being! She took the time to explain every little detail and listened to all my concerns. My encounter with her was so refreshing and I enjoyed my experience so much! Highly recommend. 10/10.
