It was my first major surgery and overnight stay. I was quite nervous. From the excellent doctors Especially Dr Hip Flores and all other doctors, I knew I was in good hands. From initial check in the nurses in admitting were great, my overnight stay was made easier by the wonderful care I received from Amanda Russo. She was so efficient and caring just what a nurse is supposed to be. Thank you all you were the best. No one cares. Healthcare is supposed to be a profession of caring, yet I was left crying in severe pain with little attention or support. I arrived at the ER at 2:30 AM suffering from severe nerve pain caused by a herniated disc. I was placed in a room and waited a long time for medication, which unfortunately did not help. After that, no one came back to reassess me, check on my pain, or offer additional assistance. I was left struggling to figure out how to use the bed, how to get to the bathroom, and how to manage while in extreme pain. Nurses would walk by and tell me they would notify the doctor, but no one ever came. I felt invisible. What happened to patient care? What happened to dignity, compassion, and basic human concern? Patients are not room numbers or items on a checklist. They are people who are scared, suffering, and looking for help. The most upsetting part was that I eventually walked out of the hospital, and no one seemed to notice or care. That should concern every patient and every member of hospital leadership. I hope management reviews the events of that night, checks the cameras, and takes a hard look at how patients are being treated. No one seeking help should feel abandoned one of the most painful moments of their life! Your employees gained immunity to patients’ suffering and lost their humanity!
Very disappointing experience in the emergency room. The nurses were extremely rude and unhelpful. I came in with my 2-year-old daughter and we waited for test results. When I politely asked how long it would take, I was told it could be a couple of hours. My child had not eaten for about 7 hours, so I asked if we could speak with the doctor. We waited another 40 minutes and nobody came to talk to us. At that point we decided to leave. Instead of helping, a nurse told me that we were not allowed to leave with my daughter. That was completely inappropriate and unacceptable. What made it even worse was that the test results were apparently ready only 5–10 minutes after I asked again. It felt like nobody even bothered to check. Overall, a very poor emergency room experience. The staff seemed lazy and dismissive, especially considering we were there with a small child. I expected much better care and communication. In comparison, I have had much better experiences at North Shore.
My mother was sent there from a nursing home. They have destroyed my mother. She was able to walk and talk when she went in there. They did not let her out of her bed.She cannot walk or talk now. They don't know how to do blood pressure, and they don't know how to take blood. They made my mother black and blue from her shoulders down to her wrists. They forgot to give my mother her heart medicine for 5 days. And they think nothing of sending her to a rehab to learn to walk because they kept her in bed, when they don't know if the rehab is going to take her or not in thirty five degrees at ten o'clock at night. The man that told me this was a cold hearted horror in some type of manager of patient, something or other. They sent her to the rehab without sending the medication instructions to give her a food appetite Enhancer, and she wouldn't eat. She now a month later Cannot walk, Neither can she speak. I was with her there for 5 days. They are totally incompetent. But there were some nice nurses there. Not enough to compensate for the ones that had no clue what they were doing. She has extremely bad memory loss at 92 they put a woman in her room that was totally out of her mind with dementia screaming on the top of her lungs non-stop. My mother was petrified she doesn't know where she is who she is she is hysterical. When I spoke to them about it, they shut my mother's phone off. I was told where do you want us to put the woman well it's really none of my business where they put that woman the woman is out of her mind with dementia screaming and scaring my mother. but she doesn't belong in a room with a very quiet timid frightened person. There's a complete lack of compassion empathy and responsibility. You do not put a woman completely out of their mind with a very quiet sweet timid frightened person. Don't listen to the recording when you call this hospital because it is not true what they're saying. This shows me there is absolutely no concern for the least of these the most broken the most vulnerable and their families. And the fact that they shut my mother's phone off so I cannot call her I knew something was going on when no one would help me speak to her and all they said was she's sleeping she sleeping 24 hours a day she's sleeping no my mother was petrified of this woman screaming and I heard the woman screaming when they finally helped me with the phone. After I told my sister and we both told them they shut my mother's phone off. Stay far away from this hospital if you have and a loved one with dementia do not send them there. There are some nasty clerks upstairs, and there are some very nice ones. There also are some very nice nurses. But mom says that they were mean to her, and she was very, very sad.
I went through the ER department and I'm very impressed by everyone's professionalism with their jobs, their attention to details, and their friendliness. I felt very comfortable throughout the entire process. I appreciate your services.
