Arrived at 7:30 AM for a 7:45 AM appointment with Dr. Boris Dilman. The first appointment of the day is 7:45. I was instructed to complete eight sheets of paperwork as a new patient even though I had previously been to this practice, albeit a few years ago. No problem. I expected to do this and arrived early to my appointment. All paperwork was completed prior to my appointment time of 7:45. At 8:15 I questioned the office manager about why I was still waiting when I had the first appointment of the day and at least 6 other patients had been called before me. She inquired with the “back” and another individual came out and rather curtly told me “if you have somewhere else to be, you should probably reschedule because it’s going to be about an hour and a half.” That would be a total two hour wait time for my 7:45, first appointment of the day. No apologies, no explanation. Needless to say, I walked out and will never be going back. Clearly this is how this practice conducts business. A very similar two hour wait occurred during my last visit a few years ago. Although, for that visit, I did not have the first appointment of the day. It's quite clear that overbooking and poor time management are standard practice at Northwest Eye Center in Barrington, IL. What's most frustrating isn't simply the delay....it's the complete lack of respect for patients' time. The actual care may be decent, but it's overshadowed by a system that treats patients like an afterthought. Until this office learns basic scheduling discipline and accountability, I would strongly recommend taking your business somewhere that values your time as well as their practice.

My appointment was at 11am. I received a call asking if I could come at 10am instead, I agreed. I was not seen by the Doctor until after 12:00pm! Why did you ask me to come in early only to make me sit FOR OVER 2 HOURS! That's absolutely RUDE and disrespectful of my valuable time. My last appointment was also over a 2 hour wait. There is something very wrong with your Front Office scheduling practices and it should be corrected immediately! My actual appointment length was only about 15 minutes. Does this make good business sense to you?! Dr. Dilmer is fine but that's the only positive I can offer. Probably won't be back.

I do not recommend this place at all. I will however start with the positives. The staff in the front were so kind and helpful. I was able to make a same day appointment to be seen and they were very helpful. I honestly would not have minded the over 1hr wait if it meant I would receive great care. However I left the office of Dr. Dilman feeling very worried and stressed. When I began questioning the prescribed treatment plan I was left feeling ridiculed for asking. I have a complicated medical history and instead of feeling safe and at ease I left worried and stressed. Then when I commented that I am still struggling to see further distances while driving, instead of suggesting I get my prescription checked or that we can see if my vision improves, I was told, "well you don't have to drive" mind you I am not even 40 yet. Maybe other doctors at the practice are fine, but I definitely needed to switch to a place where I feel safe to ask questions.

Staff really took their time explaining cataract surgery in detail. They discussed lens implant options specific to the condition of my eyes and to my needs. They happily answered my questions about every aspect from prep to post-op. They covered lens pricing, doctor, hospital, medication costs and insurance coverage including out of pocket costs. It’s clear they really care about their patients and want the best outcomes and success.

The office staff was very pleasant to talk to. My insurance situation was changing and they were knowledgeable and able to help me understand my situation. Thank you for making my visit pleasant! My exam with Dr Vilderman was equally as pleasant and encouraging. She took the time needed to answer all of my questions and explain to me the health of my eyes. I would definitely recommend seeing this Dr. Vilderman at NW Eye Center. Thank you!
