I have gone to the E 40th location for 3 years now. I'm done. Office is small and cramped. Lots of congestion. At last visit, had me move around to 7 different locations. Just for an eye exam!!! Equipment broke down during lst visit. Had to return for a 2nd visit to get refraction test. The technology for this test was down. Techs are rushed and unfriendly. Office and docs are misinformed on what insurance covers what tests. I was erroneously billed for the refraction test. It has taken weeks for front desk to resolve. They don't get back to me when I reach out. When I AM able to speak to them, all I get is diatribes and requests for me to actually come into the office to get a simple refund processed. This is so unprofessional and totally unacceptable.

I like Dr Schepps, but this office is chaos. I never wait for less than an hour. They move you around and don’t tell you what’s going on. I can never get an itemized receipt. I think I might be about done here.

I was lucky enough to get a referral from a friend to Associated Ophthalmologists about one year ago and have been a patient of Dr. Shepps since then. He has been following me for cataracts and yesterday had my first implant surgery at the Hudson Yards Surgical Center. The surgery results at day-1 are amazing. His staff at both the midtown and downtown offices are top notch. Especially the surgical coordinator Tamika. Her communication was and continues to be excellent throughout the scheduling process, and she was there for my surgery yesterday to assure all went well. Dr. Shepps and his team are 5+ stars and I would recommend to one and all.

Gerald Shepps, MD I came to Dr. Shepps with large dense cateracts. My mobility and personal independence was severely impaired, as both eyes were affected. Dr. Shepps is a polite and respectful person always willing to answer any questions. His skill as a surgeon is incomparable, and my results after the surgeries are a testament to this. The two offices are well staffed with knowledgeable and friendly employees, a rarity today. Both the East 40th Street office as well as the 150 Broadway office abound with the latest diagnostic equipment. For the patient’s convenience, an optical shop is part of the Broadway office. I was so fortunate to be referred to this office by my son, a former Wall Street trader and Navy combat veteran, who has been a patient with this office for a number of years.

Several years ago I was seeing floaters and went to see Dr. Wallis. After examining me he immediately sent me over to a Retina Specialist because upon examining me, he found that I had a detached retina. Thanks to his thorough examination I was able to be treated immediately and thankfully my vision was saved. Since then I have referred many people to AO including my 86 year old mother. I highly recommend this office for any eye issues or general eye exams!!
