I had a TEE (transesophageal echocardiogram) done recently, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this team. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like family and felt completely cared for every step of the way. I was understandably nervous, especially since I needed anesthesia, but the entire staff made me feel safe, comfortable, and reassured throughout the whole process. A special thank you to Kathleen Woods, RN, Andrea Occhipinti, RN, Rachelle Lacostern, RN, Keisha Lockwood, and Dr. Anthony Fernandes for their kindness, professionalism, and compassion. Everyone took the time to explain what was happening, answer my questions, and make sure I was comfortable before and after the procedure. Their warmth and attention to detail truly went above and beyond. If you are feeling anxious about having a TEE or any procedure, I highly recommend this incredible team. They are knowledgeable, caring, and made what could have been a stressful experience feel so much easier. Five stars all the way!

I have been going to Winthrop for years. Even after moving out East, it's been my go to for emergency care. Unfortunately, this is my third time in the ER this week. Day 1 and day 3 I had Dr. Mintz. Both times, he was so patient, kind and understanding. I truly appreciate his humanity. We need more doctors like him.
I have been hospitalised 3 x for the same reasons. The nurses are the worse you find lazy dirty pregidace You may find on out of the crew takes their job seriously The bathroom for patience filthy and the manager along with all staff is more interested in gossiping and their phones I went without dinner because they left I seen and experience a horrible time in the mineola hospital from Er to the floors. The only floor that was clean and ok care was the icu. The kitchenette is a disgrace While it’s night the noise increases with them in the hallway talking and if you buzz or the machines goes off you shall wait until 3 hours some time for any care while they talking. The emergency rooms are dirty as well. Feels as if you’re in a game show or circus.
My 2 week stay here was met with exceptional service by the doctors and nursing staff that treated me here. I would recommend this hospital over others. I cannot thank the nursing staff enough for their great service. The doctors do care about your well being here. The food also exceeded my expectations here too. I am glad I made the right decision on coming here for my emergency surgery. Thank you to the nursing staff in the Hoag Bldg. 6th floor unit.
I wish I could split this interview into the amount of stars I awarded. If it were for care and the every day staff, I would give 5. This is for my mom, who had a major brain bleed (her 3rd after 2 minor ones) back in October 2025. This was devastating to me as it affected her speech, and her right side was initially paralyzed. 3 neurologists attended to her. While 2 were nice and answered my every question, 1 particular one, who shall remain nameless, said put her in palliative care and make her comfortable as this will continue to happen again. He even had me stopping a procedure to implant a filter in her abdomen for a blood clot in her right calf from being still in bed. He was cold, emotionless, and had zero clue what he was talking about. I never saw a face of stone like that in any medical professional in my entire life. While I initially almost took his advice, family kicked in (I'm an only child, but had cousins and other relatives to lean on) and I had the filter implanted, did not put her in palliative care, and brought her to a rehabilitation facility for 100 days for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. While she is not what she once was, she's making progress daily where she can almost walk on her on, speech is improving, and I have my mom around. It hasn't been an easy 6 months. It's been emotionally and physically draining. But I have my mom around, and not either dead, or lying in some random place rotting away. If I could list his name I would so other families can make their own decision instead of taking this persons advice. I even made it known while she was still in Winthrop that I did not want to have any dealings with him. Once again, the staff is amazing here, just like they were during my moms 2 previous minor brain bleeds. Caring, considerate, and would listen. This doctor, Dr (I wish I could list his name) needs to take course in compassion and analyzation of patients after an incident like this. Mom is doing great, and after missing Thanksgiving and Christmas, it was so nice to have her around for Easter, and home as well.
