Ophthalmic Specialists of Michigan - Madison Heights

I had an appointment with Dr. Albear and I wasn't impressed. The main problem I have with this doctor is that he did not use exam gloves when touching my face and eyes. When I mentioned it to him, he simply replied that he uses hand sanitizer all throughout the day. Really? I didn't see you use any sanitizer or even wash your hands when he entered the exam room. Suffice it to say, I won't see this doctor again. I'm not looking to pick up any infections or diseases from a medical professional not practicing proper safety procedures.

Came in being told I needed immediate attention by my optometrist for an eye ulcer. Was told they didn't have their cornea specialist around and even if the specialist was around they couldn't help anyways because they needed to get cultures from my eyes. Fine, made sense. Was instead told by them to go to the ER because "they could do something for me". Thank god I didn't listen to them. Went back to my optometrist and was told the ER couldn't do anything for me and sent me somewhere else that immediately got me in for an emergency visit for my eye and found out I need constant/frequent checks that the ER would not be able to figure out for me right away. I don't doubt OSM has great services from the looks of reviews of people who successfully made their appointments and received the care they needed but the misinformation could have cost me my eye if I didn't go back to my optometrist right away. Don't come here if you need immediate attention on a medical concern that requires constant care.

Dr. Albear is the best! I was a bit apprehensive at first, but am very happy I went ahead with my cataract surgery. there was virtually no discomfort and I could see well within 24 hours. I am writing this about a month after the surgery. I am still amazed that after wearing glasses for over 50 years and having decreased vision the past 5 years, Dr. Albear fixed my vision. I selected a multifocal lens and I can wake up without reaching for my glasses in the morning which was probably the most odd feeling the first few weeks. It is nice that I do not have to remember to take my glasses with me everywhere and having to take them off and clean them every half an hour. The surgery has transformed the quality of my life. Again thank you Dr. albear and your very kind staff for helping me regain my sight.

Nice and clean facility. had some eye irritation and they got me in right away to see the doctor, which I really appreciated. I saw Dr. Albear. he was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything. He treated the problem the same day and I felt better almost immediately. Great experience overall.
