I made my appointment last week. It’s been a while since I have been able to get glasses and I was excited. I get there and sign in the instructed, waited an hour. People already came and gone so I walk up and ask, “hey, what’s going on did I get the day wrong?” They inform me I have no appointment at all. I get it errors happen but they could have called me up there and told me what was going on because I had heard them talking about something about an appointment. Then I asked if I could just make another appointment, waited a minute and she ignored me the whole time and just ended up walking out. Worst experience I’ve ever had at an eye doctor.

I have never in my 10 years of being a mother been made to feel so embarrassed of myself and my children (my son was throwing a tantrum) I understand it’s disruptive to other patients but making the mother feel like she’s a failure was not necessary. (Rolling of the eyes, plugging their ears) I didn’t even stay to have my 4 year old seen bc of how they acted over my 1 year old. Left before the doc came in bc he apparently wanted to wait in the hall arms crossed until my son was quiet. Left crying!!!! Never in my life felt so small.
I took my wife here for some ophthalmological testing. Check-in and the procedure went smoothly and in a timely fashion. Check-out, however, was slow because for some reason not all the information was available when it should have been and we had to wait for the person (not important who) to find it in the system. In fact, she claimed they didn't have my wife's Medicare card on file but we had handed her the card at check-in! She found it--scanned into the system, I guess--and proceeded to check us out, but it took longer than it should have. My wife hasn't been on Medicare beyond part A for long and this was our first visit to this branch, but she's been in the LCMH system for a long time and did visit another branch of The Eye Clinic 10 years ago (they have that on record), but before she was on Medicare. Overall, not a big deal but this is 2025, not 1995.
The Heavy set girl that works at the front desk (Latino/Mexican or whatever)acts like she slow! when it came down to pulling up my insurance because my job doesn’t send out cards anymore for vision just Medical.and wanted me to call my insurance company to get the number like she couldn’t pull it up like the one on Nelson rd and Sulphur did Soooo Easily! and I asked the other locations why would she ask me to do all that and they said they didn’t know! While shaking there heads ,I will definitely not be going back to that location again and to add to this review my cousin who also works at the same hospital as I do with the same insurance said that when she went they just pulled it up at this! Location so her tale probably was just being ugly and lazy!! Baby go find another job, but anyway I canceled the appointment and rescheduled that day wasting my time .
This is my 3rd time bringing my son to the 1st ave. location. I bought my son there yesterday to get fitted for contact lenses and for some reason that I am still confused about on why that did not happen. They made him another appointment to get fitted for contacts only after he bought in to them the last prescription he has so they can see the prescription he has on the old contacts. I asked the staff why does that matter and I'm still waiting on a answer for that question. Also without checking with my insurance company one of the staff members at the front desk told me the fee was going to be 90-250 dollars and I said why, because I have never paid that much before for his prescription and they said because he is a new contact lens client and that's not true because he has been there before for an examination for contacts and glasses. I cancelled his second appointment with them and called another eye clinic and explained to them what happened with The Eye Clinic and they immediately made him a new appointment for contacts and they also told me the fee and it was no where near 90-250 dollars. I am very disappointed in the service that me and my son received and I will NEVER go back!
