Unfortunately I cannot recommend seeing Dr. Hoover at this vision center. Yesterday (6/23) I went in to get a contact lens prescription, I explained to Dr. Hoover that my vision was fine, I didn’t feel my prescription had changed at all, so I was still probably -6.00 in both eyes and that I just needed a prescription to order new contacts since I was running low. After checking my eyes with my current contacts in she said “You’re at 20/20 with your contacts in, now take them out and I’ll check your eyes.” After some tests she tells me she thinks I might have an astigmatism in one eye and that she wants to change my prescription completely. (Yet just 10 minutes before my eyesight was 20/20 with my contacts??) So she has me try a pair of contacts I can’t see with at all, then she gives me a new set, which end up being toric contacts for both eyes. I tell her that my vision is blurry and I feel like I really have to focus with both my eyes open to see and that I definitely can’t see if one of my eyes is closed. She doesn’t give me any other contacts to try instead she tells me “it can be like that at first, you just need to get used to it”. She then FINALIZES my prescription and sends me on my way. I tried to get used to the new contacts for 6 hours before I had to take them out because my head was hurting so bad. I went into Walmart this morning (6/24) to tell them my prescription was wrong and what all happened, then I was told that I could not be seen again until she was back in on 6/30 and no other doctor there would see me, I told them due to my schedule, I cannot make it on 6/30 so they pushed my appointment off until 7/7. I even asked if I could visit her at the other Walmart they told me she worked at and they said “no you can’t transfer your information between stores.” Luckily for me, I was able to get into America’s Best today and had another optometrist test my eyes. Which ended up being my -6.00 prescription with zero astigmatism in my eyes. I’m just really disappointed in my experience at this vision center and with Dr. Hoover, on top of the fact that I wasted $145 that I can’t get refunded. Side note: the ladies at the front of the office at this location are very polite though, so at least something good came out of this experience, I guess.

**** updated 1/13/26. I typically do not write reviews but I am just tired of the poor customer service that seems to be a growing problem. Maybe AI taking peoples jobs may be an improvement. I typically go to the Lake St. Louis Vision center for an eye exam and new contact order and have had zero problems there for several years. They were overly booked at the end of the year so I scheduled with the Jungermann office. There is an obvious issue with the doctor and staff being able to communicate to best serve the client at this location. If you are getting contacts do not go to this location because thee contacts do not get ordered without you calling for weeks. I went in on 12/23/25 for a regular yearly eye exam and to order new contacts. The Dr was nice enough. She did the exam and had the girls contact Lake St. Louis office to confirm my contact brand to ensure we ordered the correct contacts. She said my prescription had not changed and we would just stick with the same script and brand.. I said sure. She then offered me what I thought was just a free trial pair. Bad idea. This is where things went down hill. I went to the front and the girls checked me out. The office girl said that she would have to wait to order my contacts until I was out of my trial. I said no the Dr said we can order my contacts as I am getting the same ones I have had for years. She went back to ask the Dr and was told go ahead with the order. I thought it was strange that she did not ask me the quantity I wanted ordered and she told me that I did not have to pay for them upfront like I always have in the past and they would call me when they came in. I just had this gut feeling when I left something was wrong but I though ok well maybe this office does things different. Almost two week later I had not heard anything so I called to check on my contact order only to be told they did not place any order because I am in the trial period and my scripts is not final. Whatever that means. Like I said same script, same contacts I have been wearing for 4 plus years. Nothing has changed except I accepted a free trial pair of contacts. I should have declined this and maybe I would have my order. I did not even need the trial pair . What was I trying? It was the same brand and strength that I had been wearing for years. The whole purpose to my visit was to get contacts ordered. I was told that they would leave a message for the Dr to get this fixed and call me back. For a week after that I was calling and being told that messages were being relayed to the Dr and that the office staff could not even place an order until the Dr released by script. They said they would leave another message for the Dr again. I had to keep calling. The Dr never responded to the office staff and has yet to release my scripts. So I am stuck with paying for an eye exam and cannot get my prescription released to me or even order contacts somewhere else without going and paying for another eye exam as my insurance will not cover another one. Angie at the office was very nice and offered me some free contacts since I was out but that was all she could do. The office staff is not the problem it is the Dr at that location. Apparently this is an ongoing issue based on reviews I have read and the office staffs hands are tied. Terrible experience.
I had an appointment at the Walmart vision center in Jengemann rd. MO. Arrived at the 12pm appointment. The lady said that the doctor called out and they had called me the day before to cancel. The fact is I never got a missed call a voicemail or a text message. I took an uber to get there and another one to get home. Wasted my time and money. No decency, no customer service.
We took one of our kids in to get contacts. Almost nothing went right. We waited and waited for them to come in for weeks and we were told they’d let us know when they came in. After growing tired of waiting, we were told they did in fact come in but they were given to somebody else… They were reordered and we were told we could come in to get our child acquainted with them. We arrived on time and sat for an hour past the appointment time when they said they wouldn’t be able to see him and they shouldn’t have told us to come in. The manager is rude and so is the doctor. They mishandled just about everything possible and got snippy with us. We won’t be going back.
Went in today for glasses repairs and the manager Angela went above and beyond to take care of Me. She was very helpful and made sure that my glasses were fixed and I left being able to see. Thanks again. Walmart vision center. I will be coming back because of Angela.
