I called Richens Eye Center to arrange care for a legitimate, work-related eye injury, and I experienced an incredibly frustrating and stressful conversation with their billing department. Instead of following standard procedures, the receptionist/billing representative was completely combative, refused to understand the facts of my case, and treated me with zero empathy.She openly told me over the phone, "By law we don’t have to see you if we are not sure we will get paid," because my employer had previously mishandled payment with a company check instead of opening a formal claim. Rather than trying to help me resolve the issue or letting me provide the proper avenues for insurance billing, she completely shut down, acted entirely incompetent regarding workers' compensation laws, and actively tried to deny me an appointment for an eye injury.I had to get the Utah Labor Commission involved just to bypass this clinic's roadblock and force the proper channels open. The front desk Lady was pretty nice and Helpful but the billing Technician was unprofessional, hostile, and completely lacking basic customer service skills. If you have a complex billing situation or a workplace injury, do not even bother calling this place—they are not willing to help you.
