Santa Monica Eye Group has been my preferred ophthamology group for the past 53 years. The doctors have changed over time, but always the best in Santa Monica. Currently I see Dr. Braun for my general eye health. She is professional, thorough and caring. Most recently Dr. Braun referred me to Dr. Rambhia, also a member of the the practice, for cataract surgery. The results are wonderful; so glad I decided to correct my vision and do away with a lifetime of contact lenses and "readers." Dr Rambhia and his surgical staff are kind, caring and provided me with a comfortable and expert experience. My vision is so much improved and I couldn't be happier with the results.

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes for 23 years. During the first several years after my diagnosis, I managed it well, but for nearly a decade afterward, I struggled significantly with both the disease and the emotional toll it carried. At times, I genuinely believed I would not survive it. Despite those challenges, I remained proactive about my health and consistently attended annual eye exams. In 2025, during an appointment at this clinic, a physician informed me that I had developed a cataract. The news was emotionally overwhelming, and I became visibly upset during the visit. The physician later stated he was unsure whether the cataract was related to diabetes and mentioned that I likely would not need to worry about it for another 10–20 years. During a follow-up appointment this year with a different provider, I was informed that she did not see the retinal bleeding previously documented, nor did she observe signs of retinopathy. This was the first time I became aware that retinal bleeding had apparently been noted in my prior exam findings. I was disappointed and concerned that this information was never clearly communicated to me at the time. As a patient, I believe transparent communication is essential, especially regarding findings that may impact long-term health. Due to this experience and the conflicting information provided, I no longer feel confident continuing my care at this clinic and will be seeking treatment elsewhere with a provider who communicates thoroughly and collaboratively.
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Stelzner. She is very professional, treated me with respect, took her time to conduct an in depth comprehensive eye exam. I felt seen as she provided me the time to address all my concerns about my diagnosis. Will definitely continue seeing her!
Dr. Braun is thorough and sharp and personable, top drawer. Even her assistant is impressive and kind.
I have been a patient at SMEMG for a number of years and put complete trust in Dr. Sadiqua Stelzner. My most recent visit was quick and painless, I was informed about the procedure done on my eye, and it couldn't have gone smoother.
