Very disrespectful staff. Reina, the supervisor, was extremely dismissive and rude. She insisted that I pay for something I did not fully understand, and when I asked for clarification, she continued to be dismissive instead of explaining the charges. I then went into the store to try to get a better understanding, but she ignored me and remained seated at the desk without assisting. Bianca was also unprofessional and unhelpful during the situation. I ended up canceling my daughter’s order after wasting 5 business days. Update: The store told me that my daughter’s polycarbonate glasses were not covered by insurance and that I had to pay $180 out of pocket. I later found out this was not true after taking my daughter to Cohen Optical, where the same insurance covered the poly glasses without any issue. This experience made me feel misled and taken advantage of. Please be careful and always verify coverage with your insurance provider before paying additional charges.

the doctor was super nice and very quick. The staff was super knowledgable about union insurance as well. Not the best selection of eyewear though.

I visited Shades of Brooklyn on January 30 for an eye exam and purchased progressive prescription glasses with transition lenses for $1,135 ($135 exam, $1,000 glasses, including $600 frames). When I returned to pick them up on February 12, I immediately experienced blurred vision, eye strain, and a headache. I informed staff in the store that the glasses did not feel right and was told to try them over the weekend to see if my eyes would adjust. They did not. The glasses continued to cause discomfort and visual distortion. On February 16, I contacted the store to request a refund and was told they would only offer store credit. Because the glasses were causing issues, I sought an independent eye exam. The examining optometrist confirmed that I do not require prescription distance eyewear and that there is no clinical indication for full-time corrective lenses. Despite this, the store refused to issue a refund. At no point was I informed that prescription eyewear was final sale. There were no visible signs indicating a no-refund policy and nothing on my receipt. I attempted to resolve this matter directly before escalating it. I am disappointed by how this was handled.
