Extremely disappointed with Short Hills Ophthalmology Group's Clifton location. From the start, this place felt shady. Staff repeatedly pushed services we explicitly said we didn't need or want, claiming they "weren't allowed" to do otherwise, something no other eye care group we've been to has ever claimed. Every other practice we've visited has offered better prices and more straightforward service. $300 for contact lenses is outrageous on its own, but when the lenses didn't even work, they wanted us to redo the entire fitting process, at additional cost, rather than making it right the first time. When we asked for a refund, they refused to give a full refund even though we never actually received a usable end product, only agreeing to a partial refund. Getting anyone to actually address this over the phone was its own ordeal, I left my number multiple times and they ignored it, then instead called the underage patient directly rather than the contact number I provided. I'm still waiting on the partial refund they promised. I'll update this review if it actually comes through, but the whole experience, the upselling, the pricing, the runaround on the refund, and how they handled communication, has been a mess from start to finish. Edit: To clarify, since your response implies otherwise, I did mention that you offered for us to come back in for another exam/fitting. But this is an eye we're talking about, and mistakes shouldn't require extra appointments and extra fees to fix. Mistakes happen, but the way staff handled it was unprofessional, and the billing practices are shady. No other office charges $300 for contacts, and the only reason we got only a partial refund was after he was required to sit through a "mandatory" instructional video on how to put contacts in, something we could've found on YouTube for free. That's exactly why I'm leaving this review. So no, I didn't misrepresent anything: you did offer for us to return, and we said no because we didn't like the office or how we were treated. I did speak with the manager privately, and she offered the partial refund, which we're grateful for. But we deserved a full refund and better care from the start, and beyond that apology, nothing was actually corrected. An apology without action or correction doesn't mean much. If she would like to speak to me to try to fix things properly she can call me back but the way I see it they took advantage of a young kid and his immigrant mother who did not know any better and then refused to make amends when someone who could talk back and argue with them showed up in the picture. I would love to be wrong and take this review down but as of right now I have spoken to the manager already and no one has properly helped or changed their shady business practices.

Update: 5/21/26 Finally had my surgery done by Dr. Farbowitz today and he is truly an amazing opthalmologist/surgeon. He and his surgical team guided me through the entire process in such a warm and calming and manner that it helped make my stress just go away. I was absolutely blown away and beyond happy with my post-surgery results and I cannot wait for my second procedure. Update: 3/30/26 I had a follow-up appointment and finally got to meet Dr. Farbowitz as well as, his assistants, Layla the Surgical Coordinator and also Luna, Nicole and Mabel, the opthalmologist assistants. Once again, very positive experience. They all are so kind, warm, friendly and professional. Dr. Farbowitz eased my fears and all explained the upcoming surgery process. Their demeanors were very calming and assuring. I'm happy I went with Short Hills Opthamologist Group for my new journey to better sight. Highly reccommend. 3/11/26: This is my first time visiting the Short Hills Opthamologist Group at the Clifton office. I had a very positive experience as the staff were very courteous and professional. I got to meet Dr. Boodi and her assistant Yanelli. They made me feel at ease and answered all of my questions and concerns in a calming and positive manner. And the eye exam was very thorough and interesting. I look forward to my next visit and I would highly recommend Short Hills Opthamologist Group to my family and friends.

They don’t answer the phone nor reply to voicemails. They ordered my contact lens trials and told me to go back in a week. After three weeks passed by without being answered I decided to go in person only to find out the contacts had never been ordered. When I friendly asked the receptionist (in person) what would be the best way to contact them because I’ve been having issues reaching someone, she gave me a dirty look and handed me a card with the same phone number which they never answer.
