Do not go to Siby Varughese or pay very close attention to your prescriptions afterwards! I have been going to LensCrafters in Pembroke Lakes Mall for over 6 years. I have always gotten the same thing: contact lenses, same brand, with a prescription change if necessary for all of those years with no problem. I also purchased glasses, maybe once or twice, but my appointment is always for the same contact lenses because I rarely wear glasses. I wear contacts everyday. Sometimes, I may not go for an exam depending on if I need lenses. In November 2025, I went to get my annual contact lens exam. Dr. Varughese did the exam and I left without ordering because I didn't need them right away. I was ok with just having the prescription on file. In early March 2026, I went to LensCrafters to order my contacts and was told I couldn't order them because I had no prescription for contacts on file. I was confused, and explained that I had just come there in November and that there had to be some mistake. The technician told me that Dr. Varughese had mistakenly written a prescription for glasses. I'm thinking, "ok, easy fix," what do I have to do? The technician spoke to Dr. Varughese and I was told I had to pay an additional $45 upcharge for the contact exam because she had charged me for a glasses exam. That was fine, so I made the appointment. I had to change my appointment after a minor back surgery, so I called to verify the price and make a new appointment. On Saturday, 4/11, when I arrived at my appointment, there was a sticky note on my file saying that the fee would be $45. The service technician went to confirm with the doctor, and came back to tell me that Dr. Varughese said I need to pay between $180 and $240 out of pocket instead of $45 because of the time period and policy, and my insurance only covers one exam per year! An exam that didn't benefit me because she screwed it up. Nobody told me I needed to come back right away, and I'm NOT an optometrist/ophthalmologist, so how would I know she wrote the wrong prescription? Dr. Varughese TOTALLY ignored the fact that it was because of her mistake of writing the wrong prescription that caused me to even be there a second time. Why should I pay additional money for her mistake? She not only refused to take responsibility for that, but she wouldn't even come out and address me herself. She sent the technician out 2 or 3 times to tell me what she said. None of this would have ever occurred if she had did her job correctly the first time. She kept saying that I took too long to come back, but my time frame doesn't change or excuse her mistake. To try to charge me more money out of pocket because of her oversight is insane. I went back the next day to get a copy of my last contact prescription (the appointment before her mistake, which was done correctly by another doctor) and they gave it to me but wrote "expired" in big blue letters across the bottom, so I can't use it anywhere else. Now I am without a new prescription and contacts until November when insurance pays for a new exam. Needless to say, I will never go back to her again. I would rather pay another doctor out of pocket than to give her one more dime of my money. After reading the reviews on her now, I see that there are at least 4 or 5 other reviews of her doing this exact thing to others before me.

Everyone was extremely professional and helpful. Made sure I was comfortable with everything and had great customer service. They were very patient with me while picking out my glasses and going over all of my options. Truly a wonderful experience.

Doctor was nice but I felt very rushed. It's almost as if she wants the patient in and out. Honestly, it was the fastest eye exam I ever had. I don't like that feeling during an appointment with a doctor.
