My experience at this hospital was extremely disappointing and traumatic. I would strongly caution parents to carefully consider their options before bringing their children here. My child was transferred to this hospital after suffering a seizure to be evaluated by a pediatric neurologist. During our stay, my child also had an infection that was not identified by the medical team. I had to bring it to their attention after reviewing the blood test results from the first hospital myself. That was incredibly concerning and made me question the quality of care my child was receiving. I also felt that Dr. Madeline Zito and her team focused on making assumptions about me as a parent instead of listening to my concerns and providing appropriate medical care. The experience left me feeling unheard, unfairly judged, and traumatized at a time when my family was already under immense stress. As a Black parent, I left feeling that I was treated differently and unfairly. While I cannot speak to the experiences of others, my experience caused me to lose trust in the care my family received. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this hospital. I hope the hospital takes patient and family concerns more seriously and ensures that all families are treated with fairness, respect, and compassion. My rating is 0.

Beware of Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital, as it is a breeding ground for malpractice. I don't even know where to begin, so let's start with the emergency room supervising physician for that day, Dr. Magdalena Filardo, who is incompetent, condescending, rude, and dismissive. I came in with symptoms that could be heart-related, but she was not going to order an EKG; however, I insisted that she do one. Additionally, she failed to order other necessary tests and never followed up properly with me. When the technician came to take me for an X-ray, he told me I had to walk—mind you, I was dizzy and in pain. The correct protocol is for them to send someone to transport you in your bed or provide a wheelchair. I know my rights, so I waited for the wheelchair. Then there was a woman in another bed screaming loudly for about 15-20 minutes, and no one bothered to offer her assistance—some staff act like they are in their own world. Finally, when they discharged me, they mixed another patient's confidential paperwork with mine—a violation of patient privacy. In light of these numerous concerns, I would never recommend this hospital to others. The standard of care is subpar, and staff conduct reflects a concerning level of negligence.

I have to say that I was very impressed by staff, front desk, and the entire surroundings of this hospital. A dear friend mine in her 80’s was in there for almost 3 weeks. Every time I called, got a friendly voice, no problems connecting to the 3rd floor nurses station. There also, if my friend wasn’t answering her phone they gladly went in to check on her. Clean environment, highly recommended if necessary for a hospital.

The service was terrific. I was taken in immediately and I was seen to, by exemplary doctors, I was treated and then I was sent home. The timing was great. The nurses knew what they were doing. And everybody was very friendly.
