Although the doctor was fantastic (polite, professional, and thorough), the front desk staff were sloppy in their work, and rude in their deportment. I went into the office for an appointment under a unique situation where I was not to be charged a copay. I patiently explained the situation and showed the proof of this "situation," the clerk and her supervisor had no interest in listening to me or considering the situation with my insurance company.

Update (8/20/26): I gave 5 stars on the last review. I believe that still applies to the doctors and most of the staff. The problem I have is with the call center. The doctors, and medical staff, at Southwestern Eye Center are excellent. It is really sad, because their call center is horrific. They will go out of their way to NOT be helpful. After trying to get a referral sent over three times, I had to go to my primary care physicians office and hand carry the referral over to them, myself. I'm, for the most part, essentially blind in one eye, in addition to having multiple other health issues, and I'm not able to drive, at this time. That makes me dependent on someone else, to help me, which means that I have to inconvenience them. When I got to the Stapley location, which is where my appointment was, they told me, there, that it was already on file, meaning that I had to have someone help me pick it up, when it wasn't necessary. While I was there, my elderly mother left her phone on the counter in the bathroom. She didn't discover that it was missing until we got back home. I called the call center to see if someone could call the Stapley location and ask if someone could please check the bathroom, to see if it was still there. The person I spoke to, at the call center, said she would have somebody at the Stapley location give me a call back, if somebody turned it in. In the meantime, the phone sat on the counter, in the bathroom, the whole time that it took to get back to the Stapley location, which took about 20 minutes (drive time) and was probably over an hour, when everything was said and done (considering she didn't discover it was missing until we'd already gone one way 20 minutes). During that time, anyone could have walked away with it. While we were driving, I called back a second time, and asked, again, to be connected to the Stapley location. I was on hold for at least 10 minutes until we had almost arrived. At that time, I was put through and no one answered the phone. When we got there, the phone was still on the counter in the bathroom where my mother had left it, luckily. Apparently, no one there had been notified. Not helpful, at all. The Golden Rule - if you left your phone somewhere, wouldn't you appreciate the organization that you were doing business with, being helpful enough to check to see if it was sitting on the bathroom counter? Wouldn't that be the kind thing to do? If I had known ahead of time that their call center would be this difficult to work with, I would have never started coming to them, despite the fact that the doctors are so good. The people that you have to deal with, on a regular basis, are at the call center. You have to call there to do anything. I have a question that I would like to call and ask, for clarification, but I don't even feel like I want to do that, because they have been so uncooperative. I have two more eye surgeries that I'm going to have to have done, after this next one, and I'm not sure I can continue to go to them. Sad for everyone involved .......... except, of course, the call center, themselves. Previous: Excellent! All the way around! I haven't had any issues with Southwestern Eye Center. I find them to be efficient, kind, and knowledgeable. I had a retinal detachment. They squeezed me in, for emergency surgery. I really like Dr. Adelberg. Anytime I've had any questions, they have gotten right back to me with answers.
I was so thankful that you were able to work me in the same day as Urgent Care said I needed to goto the ED or see OPH stat! Everyone, from the check in desk, to the nurse that did my testing, to Dr Yee and the check out desk were very kind and showed so much compassion! Thank you for all of your assistance!
Everyone there were super nice and helpful. Shania was the person who did the prep for my exam. She was AWESOME. She went through training at Southwestern, at the company's cost. She has been there 6 years and says it is nice working with people. Class company for my first visit!
This review is a bit overdue. The doctors in this facility were great, they appeared profesional and knowledgeable. The front desk staff however, rude and disrespectful in their service. I came to this facility because they mentioned over the phone that they could get me a test that my employer was requesting. When I went in person they appeared to be very agitated and irritated when I showed them on my phone the specific test that I needed and immediately felt that I was being treated as an annoyance. When I got my results, I did not get the specific test that I had requested, and upon requesting them, they made me wait over a week to pick them up. The results that were given to me the second time were also not from the exam that I had taken, and upon going back and forth with the staff, they reluctantly brought a manager who was able to get me the proper results. At the end of the day, I got proper care and did end up getting the paperwork needed for my employer. However, I will not be going be going to this clinic again due to the attitude I received from the front desk personnel.
