I was scheduled for an eye exam through the referral department of my primary care physician even though my PCP said that I didn’t need to give some information that they were asking for. The referral dept. was able to procure an appointment for this last Thursday, but they had to cancel and move my appointment to Tuesday because they had no Dr. on site to perform the exam. I waited and went to the office on Tuesday and filled out the paperwork where I went into a small exam room with two very oddly angled mirrors each at a 45 degree from being level. The woman in the room asked why I had come in, and I told her that I needed to upgrade my prescription for my glasses, and before I could finish the word glasses she interrupted and said, "We can’t do prescriptions today”. I asked, "why”? and she stated that their machine for that was broken and I would have to make another appointment to get a prescription, but she could dilate my eyes and do a partial exam. To which I replied with “What is the point, and why did no when tell me this? When can I come in to get my prescription updated”? She said about a month, maybe longer, and that she had to call her company. Where I stormed out of the room. Bare staff, awful service and terrible communication/business ethic. Avoid!

I had an appointment at this place and checked the reviews beforehand, and I was surprised by how bad they were. I decided to keep my appointment and try it for myself. Alisa, the assistant, was incredibly nice and helpful, and I didn’t have to wait long for the doctor to see me. My appointment was on time, and the whole process was smooth and efficient. Everyone in the office was so nice to me. Maybe the service was different before, but I totally love the place now. Sometimes you can’t judge by the opinions of others; you have to try for yourself. I will definitely be back!
Let me start off by saying this: Nicole at the surgery center in Glendale is AMAZING! Dr. Houvanesian’s level of care is at best minimal. Thankfully I was able to switch drs ASAP. Specialty eye care is like a chop shop for eyes. I had a misdiagnosed retinal tear, cataract and retina surgery were extremely painful and Dr. H is extremely rude. My new surgeons at The Macula Retina and Vitreous Center are spectacular, they were able to fix the unattended eye pressure of 47 immediately. I had a 2nd tear from so much scar tissue and when I was operated by my new Dr- no pain during surgery whatsoever. Specialty eye care has no regard for their patients concerns and or recovery process, and after surgery you are immediately rushed out. You’re just a number in line. If you are able to change drs. Please do so ASAP!!
Insane! My Dr's office kept sending me to an eye tumor specialist instead of a brain tumor doc (since it was affecting my eye). I was scared and upset because I kept going blind on my left side and reached out to them for help on the website to get the right referral. They took it as an insult and called me to come in the next day at 12:30. I'm single and have to take off in this expensive town (was saving my leave for 6 weeks of radiation) and got there at 11:45. Apparently they lock the doors everyday at noon and this was revenge for the "complaint". They only speak Russian around me which I know enough to know they were screwing me over but I was so afraid to start over with such a time sensitive issue. Be warned and stay away. I didn't know healthcare could be this petty, immature, and flat out insane. So rude!! Rudest people ever. Zero empathy no matter what you're going through and this year has been a nightmare!
Emails not returned. I was disconnected twice after being on hold for some time. Finally after, speaking with someone I felt I was bothering her. I was asking for additional information from my eye exam which was not on my prescription. The information was not available. I needed this information to order glasses. I have decided to go to a different eye doctor.
