While I love all the students, optometrists, and ophthalmologists I’ve interacted with there, the billing department is an absolute nightmare. When I got lenses for my frames through them, they explicitly told me were covered by my insurance only to bill me for it later anyway. It turned out the reason the claim was denied was that my vision insurance was no longer administered by VSP, which is where they had submitted the claim, hence the denial. After weeks of back and forth, they corrected the issue and took the charge off my bill. Lo and behold, 7 months later they randomly add the charge back onto my bill. Not only that, but their website glitches out and doesn’t allow me to make a partial payment to pay for a different appointment I’d had more recently, so I accidentally pay the incorrect charge they added back for the lenses. Despite multiple attempts over the span of months and now years to resolve this they have not budged.
Despite what the website says, they don’t offer free eye exams here. In fact, it costs $300(!), lasts 2 hours(!), and is done by college students(!) for practice(!). I called twice and was told the same thing both times. Please tell me why would anyone do this when an eye exam at Costco is $90. Brilliant display of our tax money in use here.
The experience was neutral. Everyone was very patient and understanding. However, there is one student nurse with stretched ears that has the worst attitude. He's impatient and rude and storms out of the exam room if he's not happy with an answer or result. Despite this I won't let one person ruin the great experience of other doctors and nurses there.
I have been going here for years and get a complete eye exam. The staff & doctor are very kind and helpful.
