I had a frustrating experience as a new patient with Dr. Guck and am disappointed that these reviews led me to believe my experience would be better. I made an appointment with Dr. Guck to be evaluated for contact lens and dry eye. I have worn contact lens 30 years and sought Dr. Guck out because he specializes in dry eyes. Instead of Dr. Guck, I was evaluated by an intern who was wonderful- Eric. He was thorough, friendly, and patient. The intern Eric conducted the entire appointment and fit me for everything. At the very end of the appointment we had a plan in place and were ready to go and Dr. Guck came in. He spent less than 5 mins looking over the work of the intern, then totally changed tracks and recommended surgery. He said he did not want to order any contacts until we determined if surgery would be the right option. Once Dr. Guck came in, everything became rushed, weird, and I left not quite understanding the plan, all I had was a pair of trial contact lens that were not quite my prescription and then a surgery consultation 6 weeks away and no further contacts or plan in place. I only see the eye doctor once a year and time my contact lens supply based off that annual visit. I came in wearing my last pair of contacts. When I researched the surgery and decided before the consult that I did not want to do the surgery, I called the office back and asked to just get the contact lens ordered. Somehow the only notes on my hour long appointment was a glasses prescription, nothing for contacts. Then I was told I need a new appointment for a contact lens evaluation and the next available appointment for this is in October. I tried explaining in multiple different ways that I just need the contacts that Eric fitted me for and that Dr. Guck approved, but kept getting rerouted to make an appointment 2 months out. So, here I sit, no fresh contacts to change into in 2 weeks, no prescription after an hour appointment that I paid for, and no doctor to help. I would not recommend this, in fact, I am back to the drawing board for a doctor to help me. This place is huge and maybe I got lost in the cracks, but I am not impressed and will be finding a new doctor to help me.

I found Dr. Kevin Guck Tayani Institute In Laguna Hills a few months ago. I had been to so many Optometrist and Ophthalmologist for a horrible condition affecting both of my eyes. All these doctors diagnosed me with severe Dry Eye Disease and while they tried many procedures and prescription eye drops, nothing was helping me. When I saw Dr. Guck the first time, he diagnosed me with a nerve condition affecting the surface of my eyes, and he was correct. After completing several treatments, I left his office today with my nerves fully restored. While my eyes are not 100% normal yet, they are better every week. I can finally live my life again! They’ll just get better and better with time. Thank goodness for doctors like Dr. Guck who actually listen to the patient’s symptoms and who don’t just fall back on the standard diagnosis. If you’ve been diagnosed with Dry Eye disease and it isn’t getting better, please go see Dr. Guck and make sure you have the correct diagnosis. Also, wonderful staff!
Tayani Institute in Laguna Hills is absolutely incredible from start to finish! From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine care that makes you feel like you’re in the best possible hands. A huge shoutout to Anna and Tenna, their customer service is truly exceptional. They are attentive, kind, and go above and beyond to make sure you feel comfortable and well taken care of every single step of the way. It’s rare to find a front facing team that genuinely makes you feel seen and valued, and these two do exactly that. And then there’s Dr. Josen, what an amazing physician. His bedside manner is outstanding. He takes the time to truly listen, explains everything with patience and clarity, and makes you feel completely at ease. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients, not just as cases, but as people. Honestly, the entire staff at Tayani Institute embodies what great healthcare should look like. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is attentive, professional, and compassionate. It’s the kind of place where you leave feeling not just cared for medically, but truly valued as a person. If you’re looking for a medical institute where the entire team treats you like family, look no further than Tayani Institute in Laguna Hills. 10 out of 10, absolutely recommend!
Dr Cook is excellent, and Ana (front desk) and Jericho are also wonderful. I feel like everyone at Tayani goes out of their way to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. A terrific place.
My doctor, Dr. David Gwynn, is no longer at Tayani. I was seen by Dr. Katerina Kurteeva when I called because I noticed that I had my annual check-up scheduled but had previously received an email alerting me that Dr. Gwynn was no longer with the practice. They showed my appointment had been canceled, that was news to me, although not surprising. They rescheduled me for the same day with doctor Kurteeva, who I felt was very thorough and gave me a test for macular degeneration which I’d never had before, and I appreciated. The office is beautiful and convenient to the 5 freeway. Ample parking. Very high tech. I feel very comfortable recommending Tayani Institute to those looking for new eye professionals in the South County area. I previously had cataract surgery by Dr. Gwynn in August 2021 when it was Saddleback Eye Center over by Mission Hospital, and had no complications and tell people I see like a 14 year old because I sprang for the upgraded multi focal lenses. Best investment I ever made.
