I am extremely upset and disappointed with this practice. I have been getting my eye exam here for a few years and never had any issues. They do provide a very thorough exam. I have been a contact lens wearer since I was a teenager and am currently 53 yrs old. I went today to see eye doctor who I hadn't seen before, the tech examined me and doctor came in asked me a few questions, wrote out 2 prescriptions, one for glasses the other for contacts. He didn't do anything different or special for my exam, as a matter of fact the tech was really the one who examined me. Dr was in there for 5 minutes. When I checked out I was charged $100 for contact lens prescription! All he did was write some numbers on the prescription. There was no special fitting, no special machine for contact wearers, nothing different was done at all. How can this office justify this fee?? This is their new policy: "Dear Tenafly Eye Patients, We want to share an important update with you regarding our practice. Effective as of December 2025, we have started charging a fee for Contact Lens fitting/Contact Lens Exam/Contact Lens Prescription. This portion of the exam allows the doctor to check how the contact lenses fit, determine the correct size and power of your contact lenses and provide you with the proper contact lens prescription" The fee is between $50-$200!!! What about someone who has been wearing contacts most of their life??? $100 for what exactly? And what determines me being charged $100 as opposed to $50??? I asked the guy at front desk whose only reply was this is the new company's policy. That's unacceptable. It is a rip off and there is no real justification for it except greed. As much as I think this practice is good, the mere fact that you are ripping people off like this is a complete turn off for me. I will try calling billing office tomorrow but am not holding out any hope. I will most likely not be returning again.

The prism billing customer service completely lack and sense of professionalism or even common sense. I was told that I have to be careful the way I speak if I say I am getting medical advice then they can bill me under medical. I went for a routine vision check and was billed under medical including getting a fungus photography which apparently is medical. The representative seemed to think I should have know why I got this test. They are ridiculous.

Always have a great experience here with both Dr. Chang and Dr. Chung being excellent physicians. Wouldn't trust my eyes with anyone else. Bedside manner goes a long way with me and the other day when I saw Dr. Chang, he was so nice and made me feel at ease. Will be seeing him again in a few months.
