I normally do not write negative reviews, but because this involves a medical treatment, I feel compelled to share my experience. I went to the Retina Group of Washington for treatment of a retinal problem in my right eye. While my initial treatment was satisfactory, an issue arose following a subsequent procedure. During my second visit, I was asked to sign multiple documents on a tablet without a clear explanation of their contents. I later realized that one of these documents was a consent form. Following the injection administered that day, I began experiencing persistent floaters. At a follow-up appointment, I was informed that silicone from the syringe had entered my eye and that there is no available treatment to eliminate the resulting floaters. I am particularly concerned that the risks associated with the syringe material were not disclosed to me prior to the procedure. Had I been informed of this possibility; I would have asked whether a silicone-free syringe was available and discussed alternative options before proceeding. Furthermore, I was charged more than $200 for the follow-up visit necessitated by this issue, in addition to the more than $500 I had already paid for the treatment. In my view, this additional charge was inappropriate given the circumstances. Patients deserve to be fully informed about the risks, benefits, and available alternatives before undergoing any medical procedure. Unfortunately, that did not happen in my case. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

I am very disappointed with my experience at this eye doctor's office. I paid a $50 copay for my visit, but later received an additional bill for $91 out of pocket, and they also charged my insurance $999. The most frustrating part is that my eye problem was not resolved. I ended up seeking treatment from another eye specialist and had to pay for another visit. I contacted the office and asked if they could waive the additional charge because I did not receive a solution to my issue and had to continue treatment elsewhere, but they refused. I understand that medical services cost money, but I feel the charges were excessive considering the outcome of my visit. Unfortunately, this experience left me dissatisfied with both the care and the billing process.
Because my English is not very good, I found Dr. Sheng online. From the very beginning, he made me feel comfortable and respected. He is extremely professional and incredibly patient, taking the time to explain everything clearly in a way I could understand. I later learned that Dr. Sheng is a retina specialist, but he did not limit his care to only his specialty. Instead, he thoughtfully referred me to two other doctors who were more appropriate for my situation, which showed how responsible and caring he truly is. In all my years of seeing doctors, I have never met someone as professional, patient, and genuinely compassionate as Dr. Sheng. I am truly grateful for his help and would highly recommend him, especially to patients whose English is not strong.
I would highly recommend Dr. Rachel Chen and Dr.Bavinger. Dr. Chen was so thorough, knowledgeable, intelligent, and professional. She was able to communicate that I had a retinal detachment and needed emergency surgery. Dr. Bavinger was my surgeon and he did an amazing job explaining the procedure and with the surgery. I am on my way to healing all thanks to these two!
I am a new patient and was able to make appointment to see the doctor on the same day. The office is very spacious and clean, the staffs are friendly and tell me every procedure while checking my eyes. Dr Sheng is very young around 30 years old only but he is very professional and nice, he spent a lot of time to explain what’s happening to my eyes and what he can do if my eyes are getting worse. I am a senior minority and my English is not that good but he make me feels so comfortable and can understand everything when he told me. 👍👍 I will definitely refer my friends and family to see him if they need to find a specialty eye doctor.
