I decided to try Total Vision in West Hollywood to support a more local business. Overall, there were some positive aspects of the experience. The front desk staff were excellent—very friendly, welcoming, and engaging throughout the visit. The equipment used during the exam was also impressive, particularly some of the newer testing technology. However, my experience with the optometrist Dr Goldstone felt more focused on upselling than on providing balanced guidance. The recommendation for contact lenses was positioned as a minor adjustment, but it ultimately translated into a significantly higher annual cost (over $1,000 more). While I understand that options should be presented, it didn’t feel like there was much consideration for cost or alternative approaches. Because of the strong service from the front desk team but a less positive clinical experience, I’d rate this visit three stars.

I had a great experience. Dr. Chung was helpful in explaining my vision and the need for a stronger prescription. Nooshin was very helpful in finding me some frames the fit in my budget since I am self insured. She even found me good discounts on the frames and exam. I highly recommend this local business!
I strongly advise against choosing this optometry and optical office. My experience was disappointing from start to finish, marked by repeated mistakes and a worrying lack of professionalism. Right from the reception, the two older front‑desk assistants made several serious errors: One of them forgot to send me for the eye scan before my appointment, which the doctor only realized in the middle of the exam. My file was created under another patient’s name, causing an additional 30‑minute delay. They also selected the wrong gender in my file, checking “female” instead of “male.” After my first visit with the doctor, one receptionist even said to me in a rude tone: “You already saw the doctor, what are you waiting for?”, even though I still needed to see him again for the final diagnosis. Most of the issues clearly came from these two older assistants. Their lack of rigor and attention led to multiple administrative and technical errors. They were unable to clearly explain the warranty period for the glasses and lenses, and they seemed unsure of the information they were giving. I also noticed that this disorganization did not only affect me. While waiting, I saw two other patients complaining about billing or insurance issues, and another patient ended up leaving out of frustration due to the poor management of the office. During the consultation, the doctor seemed rushed and did not take the time to properly explain my condition. When I asked to have my lenses changed, as recommended by the doctor, one assistant made a very inappropriate comment: “You have good insurance, you should take advantage of it and get glasses.” I was charged nearly $1,000, and my initial $280 payment was mistakenly processed four times, which blocked my bank card and created major complications for my order. Two weeks later, when I returned to pick up my new glasses, I asked for my old lenses back. They only gave me one — the other had been lost. To make matters worse, the office completely ignores emails and messages sent through their online platform, making communication or filing a complaint nearly impossible. It is clear that this office prioritizes profit over patient care. There is no transparency, no willingness to listen, and every question is met with a defensive attitude. I am sharing my experience so that other patients can be cautious before choosing this establishment.
Hollywood Vision Center is warm and welcoming. You will always be greeted with a smile. The doctors and staff are amazing, and they use state-of-the-art equipment. I was particularly impressed with how much care and genuine concern that I received. And the service is second to none. I went in for my annual vision exam. The doctor fitted me with contacts, and I also got a pair of glasses. If it is time for you to get your vision checked, Consider calling Hollywood Vision Center first. You will not regret it.
Five stars for the amazing staff! They are so professional yet warm and welcoming. I had an urgent request and they handled it with so much grace and kindness. It’s rare to find a place that feels this trustworthy and genuinely cares about their patients' needs. Thank you for being so helpful!
