However, I do want to flag a couple of things that may be worth knowing before you go. First, be prepared for some pressure around optional tests and upsells if you decline certain add-ons. Second, and more importantly: if you plan to fill your prescription elsewhere (like online, where you can get two pairs for under $60 versus $100+ for one pair here), know that you may get pushback. I was actually asked *why* I wanted my own prescription, which was surprising. Under the FTC Eyeglass Rule, practices are federally required to provide your prescription automatically at the end of your exam without you even needing to ask for it. They also do not provide your PD (pupillary distance) number, which is a separate measurement online retailers need to make your lenses. Withholding it is legal, but not a good practice. I trust the doctors with my eye care, but I do hope they reconsider these practices. Patients have a right to their prescription information without feeling like they are an inconvenience.
