They are not precise on prescriptions. If you have a hard time seeing with your current prescription, they just guess and push it up one number. Last year, they did this to me and when I picked them up, and I couldn't see at a distance, they said, "oh, it will take some time to get used to them." It didn't get better with time. I couldn't even read the drive through menu at fast food places. I took them back 3 times throughout the year and they checked the prescription each time and said, "sorry, the prescription matches what the doctor wrote." I ended up going back to my previous glasses from the year before just to get through the year. Finally, my year was up and I went back to the same VisionFirst determined to let them get it right this time. Joshua Houston was my doctor at Shelbyville VisionFirst. Do not use him. This is exactly how my appointment went. When he asked how my vision was doing, I told him that the glasses I got last year weren't my correct prescription so my vision wasn't good. He put the big black thing in front of my face and told me to read a line of letters. The black thing was an inch away from my face. So I asked him if they should be tight to my face and he said, "if you want them to be" so I straightened them up on my face. He said is this better or worse ONE TIME on each eye and pulled it away from my face. I told him it was a little better but I couldn't see clearly on either eye test. I asked if he could do it again and he said NO. THEN HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT I HAVE CATARACTS AND THAT I NEED TO GO SEE A SURGEON! I asked him once again if he could complete my eye test so I could get glasses today and he said no. You can get glasses or go see a surgeon. I wasn't about to spend another year without clear vision. I left crying. I've never had cataracts in my life and after googling it I realized I didn't have any of the symptoms. Working with my insurance company, I was able to get a second opinion even though it would mean a second eye exam within the same year. I went to another eye doctor. No sign of cataracts. And I got glasses that I can see distance with.

The staff is wonderful!! So helpful and full of knowledge. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. My 3 children ages 10, 9 and 7 boys all where glasses, as do I, so we spend a lot of time here through the year. Overall just a wonderful family experience.
Dr. Keenan is great. Cares, explains, great to deal with. Excellent. Office staff and assistants are terrible. It would be hard to describe how poorly they do their job, hiw little they care and how much time they spend relaxing in their chairs chatting. They barely move when you have to fill out a complete new patient paperwork package, even two days apart. They owe the doctors an apology for making them look bad by association.
Beware if bringing glasses that you purchased elsewhere and sending them to their lab. I don't know how they managed to completely destroy a pair of perfect Matsuda frames, but they did. That was a costly mistake trusting this lab with my glasses.
My husband and I visited Vision First in Shelbyville, Kentucky, on January 2nd, arriving at 9 a.m. We were greeted upon entry, and I brought three pairs of glasses to see about getting new lenses for one pair. The staff member assisting me suggested we use my blue and brown Coach glasses, which I purchased before COVID-19. I had only worn these glasses for about a year before cataract surgery changed my prescription, and they had been stored safely in a case ever since. The staff member commented that she was unsure if new lenses could be added due to some wear around the earpiece. She also mentioned that this might be against Vision First’s policy, and they may be unable to work on it. I explained that the glasses had only been worn for a year and that the "wear" she mentioned was likely makeup residue, which I quickly scraped off with my fingernail. The staff member then took my insurance information and started providing me with a quote for the new lenses. She mentioned that once her colleague beside her was finished assisting another customer, she would ask her to examine my frames further to determine whether they could be used. She added that her colleague had previously worked in a lab and would be able to tell. When the colleague finally looked at the frames, I was shocked to see her forcefully snap the earpiece, breaking it. Instead of stopping, she continued and snapped the other side as well, breaking the frame in two places. She then looked at me and said, "That should not have happened." While the broken frames are technically still usable if taped, this was unexpected, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable. Breaking one part could have been an accident, but breaking both earpieces felt deliberate and careless. Breaking them right in front of me felt like I was being scammed because of my age, as though they assumed I wouldn’t question it. This behavior felt manipulative, unprofessional, and deceitful. At that point, I decided to leave immediately. I have since purchased new lenses using my Gucci frames from a different vision-wear vendor. They treated me with respect and did not damage my Gucci frames, which are about five years older than the Coach glasses. They explained that when adding lenses, no pressure is ever applied to the earpieces. If adjustments are needed, they are done in-store. They also noted that if glasses fit fine before the lenses are installed, there should not be any issues. My Gucci frames fit perfectly, as did my Coach frames prior to this incident. I have provided pictures so you can see the damage. I strongly urge management to investigate this incident and ensure customers' property is treated carefully and respectfully. This experience has profoundly disappointed and frustrated me, and I would not recommend this location based on my experience.
