I've seen the dr at this vision center for an eye condition but not for a visual exam. I only see Dr. Karen McMillan at Simpson Optical because she's the only optometrist that's able to get the correct prescription. However, when I say Dr. Gardner here a few yrs ago he was super nice and very approachable. This is the first year that any Walmart vision center has participated in eyemed, vision insurance. Eyemed is super popular and I couldn't understand why they didn't but I'm glad now to have them for my glasses. The reason for such a low review is because of the staff in the eyeglass area. One of the girls is extremely rude. She's been there for quite a long time. There's another whose very pushy. I stopped by and was trying on a few frames and she was insistent on wanting my insurance information. I explained I was just looking. She got an attitude over it. So I just left. I went to the Hamburg, lexington location to get my last set and they were extremely nice. However, I need a new pair of prescription sunglasses and I'm going to go to this location because its closest to me and more convenient. I'll update after my visit.

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. John Mackey at the Walmart Optical Store in Paris, Ky. I went in worried about my declining vision and he performed a thorough eye exam with a detailed explanation of the changes I was experiencing. I was very impressed with Dr. Mackey’s insight and advice and friendly manner. I will go nowhere else!

Both my husband and I went for an eye exam and had our insurance cards with us. They said they took our insurance and yet billed us personally for the full exam. When asked why we had to pay $50 each out of pocket, they responded they didn't take our insurance all of a sudden. Confused I call our insurance company and they called them asking what the deal was because they ended up billing the insurance also. The billing dept. Said it was a misunderstanding and we should get our refund back in full. Hopefully it won't be a fight to get that either! To make things better, during the exam (I don't like to be touched) the Dr went to take out my contacts and I pulled away asking him if I could do it because I don't like people touching me, let a lone my eyes (which he didnt even wash his hands)and I'm sure I'm not the only one.. he gave me a bad look, sighs real hard and says "fine but make it quick and throw your contacts out!" I did so and came back and he tried to put my contacts in. I explained to him again that it made me feel uncomfortable and he got angry with me saying I'm wasting his time.. also giving me the wrong contact brand as well as prescription and I just threw out my last pair of contacts... would not recommend this place at all.

The ladies that help you pick your glasses and such are okay, it was the doctor that I didn't care for. I decided I wanted my eyes to be dilated but I had a hard time getting the eye drops in my eyes. It's a natural reaction to close your eyes when something is trying to get in it, I even tried to keep them open with my fingers. It only took a minute and the eye drops finally went in but the doctor made me feel awful by getting frustrated and saying "you wanted this!"

I would not recommend this store for eyewear. The first year I used this store4 years ago. I got a pair of glasses I couldn’t see out of. The attendant had one excuse after another, my near sightedness, Bells Palsy, etc... The doctor there wrote the wrong prescription. So I donated that pair and went to another store and got a pair I can use. A few years later I went back to the Walmart Vision in Paris again. Again I ended up with a pair of glasses I can’t see out of. Again the same attendant refuses to make it right, the no line bifocals were too high. I donated another pair I can’t use. I will never use this store again. I learned my lesson the hard way!
