Walmart Vision Center – Lake Wales

The vision center at the Lake Wales Walmart really did an amazing job. I was in need of a new optometrist and I am so glad I scheduled an appointment here. The receptionist/optical tech who checked me in and did my pre-eye exam was very nice and professional. Then I saw Dr Mark and I can not say enough good things about him. He was very easy to talk to, gentle and informative. I would rate Dr Mark the best eye exam I’ve ever had. Kevin was also a highlight when it came to picking out glasses. He was very kind, helpful and patient. Thank you to Dr Mark and the Lake Wales optometry team. I appreciate your hard work. You all have been wonderful.

I am extremely disappointed with the treatment my son and I received at the Walmart Vision Center\. When we arrived there was no one in the vision center for approximately 10–15 minutes\. After finally being helped the optician immediately became rude and argumentative when I explained that I had been dealing with miscommunication for the past two weeks regarding my son’s prescription. She then informed me that a new authorization was needed for my son, despite the fact that no one mentioned this during any of my multiple calls over the last two weeks.Instead of trying to resolve the issue she raised her voice, rolled her eyes multiple times, told me she could refuse to help us, said I didn’t have to purchase glasses there, and even threatened to have someone remove me from the vision center. She also stated that obtaining my son’s eye prescription “wasn’t her responsibility.” Once I asked for her name, she handed me a card revealing she is the manager of the center which was very shameful as management is supposed to have grace, patience, and compassion for these types of situations. Her name is Sandra gonalaez. My son has autism and witnessing an adult speak to his mother this way frightened him. He became visibly upset. At no point did she show any compassion or patience toward him. She also never walked over to help us select glasses which is part of the customer service I expected. To make matters worse she sarcastically asked if I even wear glasses. I have worn glasses since I was 10 years old and in all those years I have never been treated with such disrespect at any vision center. I’m a nurse and I work with patients every day. I understand that stressful situations happen but there is never an excuse to speak to patients or customers with disrespect especially in front of a child with special needs. Professionalism, empathy, and basic courtesy cost nothing. This experience was unacceptable and has left a terrible first impression on my son. If providing respectful customer service is too much to ask, perhaps this is not the right profession for her. I sincerely hope Walmart addresses this behavior so no other family has to go through what we experienced

Melisa helped my family order glasses and another day to get those glasses fit to each person's face just right. We had five pair of glasses for four people. Melisa was very calm, friendly, and fantastic at adjusting each person's glasses several times until they fit just right. I have been to other places where they would be overwhelmed by all the different people needing things at the same time. Melisa handled everything we needed each time we came to the Walmart Vision Center with quality customer service and excellence. I highly recommend Melisa and the Walmart Vision Center in Lake Wales, FL.

I went in not really knowing what I should get. Sandra was the first one to offer me help and she was so kind and sweet the whole time! By far one of the best experiences I’ve had while being here! I’d recommend her by a landslide just for going the extra mile to make sure I got exactly what I needed, thank you Sandra!!

My experience there was excellent. They had a wide selection of frames to tailor to my taste. Sandra and Melissa were very welcoming and very knowledgeable. They were able to answer any questions I had. Will definitely return for any of my glasses needs.
