Two cataract surgeries. Both went perfectly well. Just in time for DMV driver license renewal. For the first time in three decades I've not needed glasses to drive! Dr. Christian's incredible surgery prompted DMV to renew my license without eyeglasses restriction.

Excellent doctor and office. Very grateful to have someone to trust with my eyesight. One time I went because I had something like a hair from my Aussie in my eye and I could not get it out for the life of me. I went again to get a checkup because I was worried my eyesight was getting lost but it turned out to just be dry eyes. He is very honest gentle and precise.
When I made an appointment with Dr. Christian for simple cataract surgery I was very clear and told them I had Medicare and did they take that as full payment. I was told yes and it also says they take it on their website. This is not true, Sure they will take your Medicare and also make you pay 5 thousand dollars for the privilege. I never would have known this if not for YELP. I read reviews. After I made the appointment, I thought I better give Yelp a read. I was shocked to find out about this undisclosed charge. I would have wasted my time and God only knows when they would have told me to hand over 5K. I have cataracts so hard to read, close to impossible and I was very clear asking Medicare all in right--of course was the response. So, I called back and asked for billing. I told them I read they charge an additional 5 K on top of Medicare and your supplement. I was told they did. I told her I was not told that and it is no where on your website. Pregnant pause--sort of like what should I tell this woman. She then said that they use the best and latest equipment. I asked is that compared to old and outdated equipment. Another long pause. She said we have that charge. She never said she was sorry I was not told this. Now, I would have wasted a day and I am confident they would have made money off what I consider false advertising by billing Medicare to see me and may then tell me to hand over 5K. There is always a reason when you can get an appointment right away. Run from these people. Sorry for any typos, I have cataracts.
I can't speak highly enough about Dr William Christian and his entire staff at the Vanguard Eye Institute. I've had other eye Doctors and Dr Christian is hands down the very best. He is uber knowledgeable, professional and a brilliant surgeon. My Cataract Multifocal lens implants went perfectly. The best decision I finally made. Life-changing. Well worth it. 60 years old.
I knew I needed my eyes checked because the signs on the freeways were not as clear at night as they have been. I thought I needed glasses, boy was I wrong! I had LASIK performed a few year prior with excellent results, my problem, however, was my ophthalmologist had retired. I asked friends and neighbors for referrals and recommendations, several of them recommended The Vanguard Eye Institute and Dr. William K. Christian. After some additional web research, I made an appointment with Dr. Christian to have my eyes examined. I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough and comprehensive the exam and evaluations were. Dr. Christian took a significant amount of time to explain the evaluation and test results. He was clear (unambiguous) in communicating the examination results, I was developing cataracts, in both eyes! Dr. Christian explained the cause and effects of having cataracts and the treatment options (including pros and cons). At the conclusion of the consultation I felt comfortable enough with Dr. Christian to schedule cataract surgery. I had surgery performed within a week or so after the consultation, one eye done one week and the other eye done the following week. The surgeries were performed at the 90210 Surgery Medical Center. The Center had all latest technology (lasers and associated diagnostic equipment) and a excellent supportive staff. It became clear to me at that point why Dr. Christian had been so optimistic about my cataract surgery outcome. The surgery in both eyes went very well, no pain or discomfort, Dr. Christian "talked" me through the surgeries which was very helpful in relieving my anxiety. I had to rest the day the surgery was performed. The day following surgery I was back to normal with the best vision I have had in life!! If you are having vision problems, I recommend you go see Dr. William K. Christian at The Vanguard Eye Institute. He has a competent, helpful and understanding staff. He is erudite in his field and knowledgeable with the conventional wisdom in the treatment of disorders of the eyes. You will find Dr. Christian to be amiable, personable, good-humored and a damn good doctor that knows how to communicate. You get the trifecta and more with Dr. Christian.
