The opticians and staff at Golden Vision Clinic are exceptional. I stopped in for help with a damaged pair of glasses and the staff were welcoming and kind. The optician fixed, cleaned and adjusted the glasses on the spot, and sent me out with a new glasses case and cleaner kit, at no charge. He also took time to answer my questions about the practice in a way that was crystal clear. The office is clean and bright. It is very accessible with convenient parking, near downtown Golden.

This has been bothering me so much since it happened, I couldn't leave it alone. So we went into Golden Vision Clinic late last year, had a great experience with the doc, the staff we met, and especially Sara(h?) who fitted our glasses. Wonderful experience, leaving me resolved that I had found our eye doctor and was assured a great experience going forward. My wife came in not long after me and also had a good experience, however she found she had trouble with her glasses and had to go back for some adjustments. No worries. After I was living with mine for a while, I felt I still needed correction for distance / driving - the prescription I got was more catered for reading/computer work. No worries again. I called in and discussed briefly, and basically left it alone. Fast forward about 5 months, I call in to make another appointment - I've decided at this point that I really do want to get my distance vision corrected for driving/etc. I end up on the phone with Julieanne or something similar. Here's where it goes very wrong - I start to explain our scenario - I am still needing some different correction, and my wife isn't happy with her glasses, actually she doesn't even use them because she can't stand how they feel. Well, this "pleasant" (NOT) lady quite snippily tells me that we are not eligible for another eye exam covered by insurance until July, and we only had 30 days to complain about our initial visit. She offers that we can come in for an out of pocket exam at $200. First off, let me just say, I understand how businesses work. I get that you can't give things away. I get that policies exist for good reasons. It's how you interact with your customers that matters to me. Customer service makes or breaks relationships in my opinion. Treating the customer like the enemy - not going to fly with me. My advice to this business is, strongly evaluate who you have answering the phone. She is your first contact point for many people. Maybe she came with the business when you took it over and you feel bad about letting her go. Sometimes people just get to the end of the road in one particular job and need a change, but don't quite have the will to do it themselves. Maybe you should help her out, it might help your business. At the very least, get her to practice just a tiny bit of empathy. A slight interest in trying to solve the customer's problem rather than blaming them. I would have left you a 5 star review for everything I experienced, even with the slight disappointment in not getting a "one size fits all" prescription, but hey that's middle age, not your fault. You've lost two customers because of this person I spoke with. This review may cost you more. Something to think about.
I would highly recommend Golden Vision Clinic. Everyone I talked to was wonderful, helpful, and kind in general. No one made me feel like I had to do anything, or buy anything then and there. A great experience overall.
I had an Optometrist appointment to check an issue that I thought I had on my eyes. She didn’t saw my eyes up close, they just gave me an aye exam and pictures of the back of my eyes and charged me extra for the pictures, they told me that my vision had change a little compared with the glasses that I was wearing. I decided to go ahead and get new glasses. I had double vision on my existing glasses, they made me single vision glasses. I can’t see close, they made me far vision glases. She never asked anything. Now I have to pay extra if I want to get the bifocal lenses, when it should’ve done in the first place. My long vision is not bad, my issue is short vision. I will never go back to this place.
The staff and Dr. Newland were very professional, pleasant and thorough. I would definitely recommend Golden Vision Clinic to my friends and family.
