Thank you to Dr. Johnson and his amazing frame shop Optician named Carleigh. I’ve been coming here for 30+ years and have purchased dozens of pairs of glasses and sunglasses. I have never had such customized, exquisite care as she gave me. She worked so very hard for me and spent a lot of time with me helping me choose the right frame and accommodating my special needs. Thank you Carleigh!!!

I started going to Alameda vision 6 to 8 months ago because my old optometrist passed away. I wanted prescription safety glasses for my work and my work only went through Alameda and since my records had been moved there, why not? My first negative was that, even though my old eye exam was less than a year old, Alameda couldn't find the records from my old Dr. Okay, new exam, no big issue. But I did notice that the personalized service I had with my old Dr (Eye Doc Greg) was missing. The desk staff treated me more like an inconvenience and the Doctor (don't remember his name) wasn't interested in listening to me about my eye care needs, basically just get me in and out. Fast forward to now. My wife had set up appointments for both her and my son for February 10th and 24th respectively back in December. She broke her leg at the beginning of January and so, when she received the confirmation text about those appointments she said "no" thinking she'd reschedule later. Today, we received two $25 charges for not showing for those appointments. I never saw those texts but what was the point of saying no if you'd be charged anyway. I'll let her call them, but I'll never go there again. Looks like they just churn through patients with out really caring about them and make their money without mine.
I lost a pair of glasses, I drive a school bus for a living. I am driving the school bus on a 15 year old prescription because those are the only glasses I have. I am desperate for a pair of glasses. I got a prescription in January of last year, 2025,but it is now May of 2026. My prescription expired in January because of Idaho law. They made zero attempts to get me some glasses because of Idaho law. I have to make an appointment to have my prescription updated while I drive another week waiting for an appointment to get my prescription updated somewhere else because I won't go back; and I won't go back because if I get in an accident this week while I wait for an appointment somewhere else, it's their fault that they made no attempt to fix my problem so I was driving on an outdated "ONE" year old prescription instead of an outdated "FIFTEEN " year old prescription. I hope you feel your kids are safe in the school bus knowing that they don't care if you are an unsafe driver. They lost a customer for life.
I used to think Alameda Vision was one of the better eye-care providers in Pocatello, but that's NOT the case. When they tell you your glasses (frames) are under warranty, then you need replacements, they tell you the frames have been discontinued. Do they provide a different frame to take care of you as a customer? No, because they say your prescription is out-of-date. When you offer to come in to get a new prescription to help this particular warranty process work, they say probably not, since warranty expires next month. It shouldn't matter if warranty expires in 1 day or 1 year... warranty is warranty! Also, in the past, I've asked for an itemized receipt for frames/lenses, so that my employer could easily see they were "safety-glasses" so, my employer could re-imburse me. They couldn't provide this. Every document they provided me didn't have enough information on it. When I repeatedly asked for clear documents, the manager got all uptight and snippy. I'll find a different eye-care provider.
First visit and am very pleased for the most part. Dr. Tucker was great and I felt he listened to my questions and concerns-and had some of his own. Marjorie, who helped me pick out frames and figure out lenses is priceless-she made me feel like she was helping me and not just marking time until the next patient/client came through. Now we just need to familiarize the techs to say things like "Hello" and "My name is __, how are you today?" before they start telling you where to sit and which eye to cover. Wouldn't hurt if they got in the habit of saying "please" and "thank you" as well. I get being on the "tech" side, but you can still be friendly while being efficient.
