From the scheduler to the front desk staff to the optician and optometrist- Alderwood Optical is a first-rate operation. I was treated so kindly with an attention to detail that held my insurance accountable for more than I initially thought! Incredible service and a knowledgeable medical staff all in a convenient location. I am so glad not to have to drive to first hill to receive top notch service anymore- Alderwood Optical has them beat.

Before I even went in I had to contact them for a few things and everyone was professional and helpful. At my visit I was treated with respect by everyone. I was also very surprised that when I told the doctor about a procedure that was recommended, he told me that was not actually what I needed. He gave me a referral so I can be treated properly. I am extremely happy that I went there.
My mother-in-law visited Alderwood Optical to get an eye exam and have new prescription lenses fitted into a brand-new, unused frame that she brought from home. The moment she told the middle-aged woman at the front desk that she would not be purchasing a new frame from their store, the woman's attitude became completely rude, hostile, and dismissive. She shoved a stack of paperwork in front of my mother-in-law to sign in order to proceed with the lens order. At no point did she verbally mention or explain that a damage waiver was buried inside that stack of papers. They told her they would contact her via phone, text, or email when the glasses were ready. She heard absolutely nothing from them for TWO MONTHS. No phone call, no text, no email. Out of concern over the extreme delay, my daughter finally called them to check on the status. It was only during this phone call that they casually informed us they had broken the side of my mother-in-law's brand-new frame—and then claimed they weren't responsible for replacing it because of the waiver they sneakily slipped into the paperwork without her knowledge. They treated an elderly customer poorly just because she didn't spend extra money on their frames, destroyed her brand-new property, hid the damage from us for two months, and are now hiding behind a waiver they never disclosed. Completely unprofessional, dishonest, and unacceptable business practices. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this store entirely for your vision needs. Take your business to a clinic that actually respects its customers and takes responsibility for its actions.
I bought glasses from three different optical stores recently. This one charged highest but gave me thickest lenses. I asked for the most lightweight lenses, but they chose the medium one for me. So disappointed! Aside from this issue, their service is good. But the most important thing for me is the glasses. Overall, I do not recommend this store.
I love the eye doctors at this location. I do not choose to buy my glasses through them as they are much more pricey than Costco (because they are a private practice) but as far as eye care, I've never found better. I keep coming back because this is the only eye doc in all my 42 years (so far) that has made a meaningful improvement in my vision that I can actually see.. a real improvement in my vision. This year my rx did not change from last year. It didn't get worse and obviously I do not expect it to improve at my age so no news is the best news from the eye doc. I recommend their docs but not the hardware. There are better deals elsewhere. Also, be sure you know your own eye benefits before you go. They tried to tell me I had coverage from Kaiser that I know for a fact I do not. I asked them to reverify and they did and found I was right. So "know before you go."
