Okay so, I moved to the area back in 2019, started coming to this store back in 2020. The female eye doctor I had from the very beginning was just rude to me, everyone else was so nice except for her. Told the eye doctor I didn't want to change my prescription from acuvue to something else if it wasnt needed because they're all I've ever worn and I've never had problems with them. She changed my prescription anyways to biofinity, told me it was pretty much the same and sent me on my way. Within a few days had to come back for a medical visit due to getting a corneal ulcer in my left eye, saw the male eye doctor and he was amazing, got my eye healed up, threw away the old lenses and followed all of his instructions. Overall, the biofinity lenses were horrible, within an hour of putting them in id be rubbing my eyes and wishing I could take them out because they were always uncomfortable, even if it was a brand new pair it'd be the same thing. But I dealt with it because I figured the female eye doctor knew best and maybe my eyes were just getting more upset with age. She didn't know best at all. Went from wearing acuvue daily all day with no problems for years to barely tolerating having the biofinity lenses in for two hours and only wearing them for work. Recently after wearing my contacts for about 12 hours, had a long day and couldnt take them out til about 10:30pm at night and they ripped a layer off of both of my corneas...they were a fresh pair I had opened that morning. Had to do a medical visit at a different Americas Best only to be told that I should have never been switched from my original acuvue prescription because the biofinity lenses were completely incompatible with me (acuvue 8.4 BC vs biofinity at 8.6 BC) and most definitely weren't 'similar' to my original prescription. If the female eye doctor is still here, just be wary and make sure you can stand up for yourself unlike younger me, I know she was there back in January at my last appointment because I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with her again. Never had someone be rude to me for referring to my monthly biofinity lenses as monthlies until her, had the audacity to ask me if "I knew how contacts work." Even my fiance who was in the room with us was surprised that she was so rude for literally no reason. Only worn contacts consistently since I was 13 and im turning 27 soon but yeah sure, she needs to work on her bedside manner but maybe she just had a thing against me for my appearance or having bad days, I dont know. The male eye doctor and all the techs here are lovely, the female eye doctor not so much. Just glad my current eye doctor actually listens and seems to care, I hope no one else has a bad experience like me at this location.

Worst experience I ever had for any eye exam. All they want is money. I walked in with an appointment for “eye exam.” They greeted me by asking- “are you buying new glasses or contacts today?“ “I have an appointment for an eye exam.” Was my reply. I asked about no dilation eye test, as my plan covered it. They told me, “ It doesn’t matter we charge a min $20 for the exam regardless of insurance.“ Really? Ok? I had my eye exam where the doc was more interested in filling her screens and checking boxes than listening to my eye medical history. I already had a prescription from an ophthalmologist, I needed them to fill for special contacts and they charged me a $40 contact consultation fee just for filling it plus the cost of the contacts. I told them I needed special medical glasses from California, and they didn’t sell what I needed. When I asked if they would clean my glass lens they said sorry they don’t do that here.- Really? I asked about my PD and Segment height measurements for my special prescription glasses I needed. They said they don’t include them unless I buy from them or pay an eye glasses consultation. Since when doesn’t an eye exam include needed measurement for a prescription pair of glasses? Everything here was about money. Up selling, Up charging, add on fees. - Go somewhere else, you will be happier.
Excellent experience!!! Came early and was taken right back. Whole experience was under an hour. The lady fitting my glasses took time with me to show me glasses that fit my face and were stylish. All in all spent less money as self pay than I ever have with insurance! Definitely recommend them to everyone!!!
I do NOT recommend. Told I have cataracts & given a referral to an opthalmologist, instead of testing my eyes for lenses to clear distance blurring in one eye, and close up blurring in the other, as I stated. I believe they went by my form stating that I'm sensitive to bright lights, however, I have blue eyes, and, this sensitivity has DECREASED over time. Also, there are NO color changes including no yellowing as is very common for cataracts. On my form, I listed YES for ANYONE in my family having them, and ONLY one person in my entire family ever did. I asked for a prescription for glasses with the intent to purchase two pairs to last me until I could receive more thorough treatment at a later date, but instead received a referral to an opthalmologist for cataract removal. Apparently prescription glasses ARE a corrective action EVEN for cataracts until you are able to receive more invasive treatment methods.
I be been a customer maybe for 5 years in December 2025 I went for eye exam and glasses had a prescription with a little change in My reading After some weeks I received my glasses and I wore them for 11 days They gave me a horrible headache I could not read and I had to use my old ones I went back to the store and I explained to Marla the Manager the situation She wasn’t nice to me at all. She slammed her hands on the desk and said what you want me to do you want your money back ? And also mentioned that couple years ago I had the same problem with a new prescription that I had back then I was polite even if she wasn’t and I told her yes and I had to go back to my old prescription and the problem was fixed couple years ago After she mentioned all these I told her I’m Not her for my money back I’m here to help me maybe go back to my old prescription or do some adjustments I paid almost $300 She said ok I will do some adjustments but she was still so unprofessional and with attitude After the adjustments (she sent my glasses out) I got my glasses in January middle of January I think Is a little bit better but still I have difficulties reading but what’s the point to go back and have this attitude and she is so rude I remember years ago and me and my husband started to go to this store Marla was ok not the politest person but she was ok but now No she is not I felt that she was trying to accuse me that I do this on purpose Definitely I’m not going to this store in port richey and I’m Not sure if I will ever go to Americans best ever again Definitely I don’t recommend the store in Port richey
