America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

Prior to this incident, I would've given this place 5 stars. I have been coming here since 2021 and I've never had an issue with their service or my glasses and their prices are fair. I had an appointment in late April (horrible experience with the doctor, she was rude), placed my son & I's glasses order & received the first week of May. My glasses were not as expected. The transition was not placed in the correct frame. I called right away & their was no solution offered. It was the end of the day, so I understood. I attempted to contact the manager, Amanda, for over two weeks after this before making contact. She agrees to order the corrected lenses & NEVER discussed pricing so I'm assuming their going to make their wrong, right. Nope. Now, fast forward to yesterday, I went to pick up the replacement lenses. Amanda was not there. I should've waited for Amanda, but I was already there and I assumed it was going to be a better experience. Wrong. The employee, I believe Mayeli (short, Hispanic female with glasses), helps me. And I absolutely HATED the replacement lenses. They did not look good on my frame. She asks me THREE times with an attitude "so do you want them or not?!". I was baffled. The alternative was to pay an additional $70 to keep the transition in my original frame after I was already inconvenienced. This place is no longer worth the hassle & clearly do not value making things right when THEY screw up. Beware.

Eye doctor is disgustingly rude and overall unpleasantly unprofessional. The whole reception makes you feel unwelcome and uncomfortable as if you aren’t paying to be there. I do not recommend. Try lens crafters since you may as well be spending the same amount except you won’t be disappointed with such cheap garbage. I’ve bought the most expensive miserable cheap eyeglasses here not once but 3 times each pair over 150$ including 48$ prescription on each lens as well as any add ons they try to sell you.

I had such a great experience at the America’s Best in Salinas! I really want to shout out Amanda the manager and her whole team for being so incredibly patient and helpful with me. I had a ton of questions about my insurance, and they walked me through every little detail to make sure I was maximizing my allowance and making the right choice for my budget. Dr. Taylor was also fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and took the time to adjust my prescription specifically so I’d be more comfortable functioning day-to-day. It makes such a huge difference when a doctor actually listens to how you use your eyes. What really impressed me was how careful they were with my frames. They actually noticed a small broken part that I would have missed entirely, pointed it out, and replaced it for me right then and there. Plus, the shipping ended up being super fast. If you need eye care, definitely go see Amanda, Dr. Taylor, and the crew. They truly care about their customers

The prices here are like mystery boxes. I do not recommend it. The day of pick up they tell you: !! The WARRANTY STARTS from THE DAY OF PURCHASE. Not the day you receive your glasses !! Ridiculous. There is a 30 day warranty included, but while waiting to receive your glasses you will end up with 16 day’s left. The deal for 2 glasses and an exam will only go up in price. For example, every add-on lens you need or is recommended by the optometrist such as; blue light, astigmatism, anti-reflection you will pay $40. ASK for an estimate PRIOR TO THE EXAM to avoid surprise costs. - If you know you need additional add-on lenses and want Polycarbonate lenses demand an estimate. I asked for an estimate yet even with that they charged me a stupid amount. After the exam you are informed that you will receive PLASTIC lensed glasses unless you pay extra for Polycarbonate, which was about $90+ for both glasses. You can only edit your purchase once, which I had edited already so (when the staff told me the 30 day warranty started the day of purchase) and I wanted to add the 1 year warranty, I no longer could. Plus, it was like an extra $100 for a year's warranty. Insane. The staff seemed uninformed about the fact they could not edit the purchase more than once, and that their warranty started the day of purchasing your glasses. You also don't receive regular cases for your glasses or a cloth. At the end of the day your glasses will come out at the same price as another place like Costco, which has higher quality (polycarbonate) and better warranty for your glasses. Glasses are a basic necessity, and should not be a luxury. If you’re trying to save some money don't go here. You will only waste.

I've used this location for all my vision needs for the last few years and every time I visit, I am reminded how great of a service they provide. I was able to complete an eye exam, get fitted for eyeglasses and contact lenses and I was out of there in less than an hour. Their rates are very fair and it seems they have great discounts for all different types of customers. I am very satisfied with their service and recommend them to everyone.
