1 Star – Beware of the Customer Service I’ve been a loyal America’s Best customer since 2022, and this was by far my worst experience. I came in on a tight budget and asked about pricing before my exam. Instead of getting a clear answer, I was told I’d find out after the exam. When I couldn’t afford the unexpected contact lens exam fee, Jeremy Anderson told me, “You can pay, or you can take those contacts out and leave.” I had already thrown away my old contacts and could barely see. No customer should ever be spoken to that way. Affordable vision means nothing if customers are treated with disrespect. I hope the owners see this because no one should leave feeling embarrassed for simply asking about costs.

Margie & Dr. Patel were incredibly friendly, but the place itself is incredibly misleading. They state they are contracted with VSP insurance (even have a little sign showing all the insurances they are contracted with) however, they are not. They told me I had an allowance of $75 for my lenses frames with a $25 copay. They attempt to upsell you on a whole lot of stuff while you are choosing your glasses. I didn't like the price a whole lot, so I passed and said I would just take the prescription. I went home and looked at my insurance and my benefits state I have a $200 allowance with a $25 copay. The glasses I chose would have been free (with a $25 copay and could have gotten an even more expensive pair) They need to be clear who they are actually contracted with. I am sure it's a great option if you are uninsured, and get the $95 deal. There was an older woman who had VSP as well, and her total was over $200, had they been honest with her, it probably would have been a lot less. CHECK YOUR BENEFITS before you go!
My mom ordered glasses back in March and lives 50 minutes away. Came to pick them up and they were the wrong glasses. She reordered and once they came in she drove another 59 minutes and once again the glasses were wrong. They placed the bifocals wrong in each lenses. Twice she had to drive and she’s waited over 6 weeks for glasses that she never got.
All the staff is very professional & friendly & kind and respectful They don't rush you. Chris went above and beyond taking care of me. I give them 5 stars and above. God Bless Everyone that works here in Cherrydale SC.
The optomap retinal map procedure was a total nightmare for me. First off, NO ONE EXPLAINED what they were about to do to me. I thought I was there to read letters. They put me in front of a machine and proceeded to blast my eyes with blinding light. It was AWFUL. Someone should have first at least told me what they were about to do. Had I known my eyes would (surprise, surprise) be blasted with light, and that this procedure was TOTALLY unnecessary for why I came there (I just needed to be sure I’d pass the vision screening at the DMV) I would never have allowed them to do this to me. I had a splitting headache (this never happens to me) for the rest of the day and my eyes ACHED and were sensitive to light to the point I had to keep a pillow over them. A day later my eyes are recovering but still achy and sensitive to light. There is NO way this procedure is “harmless”. It definitely harmed me. People should be warned of the potential side effects before agreeing to it. I just pray these are the only side effects from this completely unnecessary procedure that they put me through. There is no way I’ll ever let anyone do this to me ever again.
