I went to Anderson Eye for a second opinion. I first met Katie who really made me feel comfortable and welcome. Then I met Dr Vanhorn,. The Dr explained everything thoroughly and also made me feel like he really cared. Between the two of them it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time at a Dr office.

Dr. Van Horn is far and away the most caring, thorough, and talented doctor I have encountered in decades, of any discipline or specialty. He consults colleagues and mentors for unusual presentations like mine. He never just punts to get you out of the office. He explains everything from current diagnosis to next steps and prognosis. He doesn't sugar coat, but he doesn't scare you. He is honest and genuine. If every specialty had doctors like him, we would be a healthier nation.
I have been a patient here for years. I had an appointment for an eye exam and contacts. The eye exam went fine until I got to the contacts department and spoke with Gwen. She gave me the wrong prescription trial pair. I let her know at least three different times before I left my appointment that I could not see out of my right eye. She kept shutting me down. I drove home blind that day. I went home and put in my old contacts. They worked correctly and I could see just fine. I called Gwen back that day and told her about it. She told me it was a “faulty” contact lens. I have been wearing contacts for many years and I have never had a faulty contact lens. She then told me she would send me a new trial pair. When I received the new trial pair, they were still wrong. So wrong in fact, I had to leave work. I went back to the office that Friday 7/31 and spoke with Gwen‘s manager, Mary. The level of incompetence and negligence on their part is incredible. As I try to explain, Mary cuts me off and says to me that she “didn't understand” the situation. I showed Mary the contacts Gwen sent in the mail and that they were still wrong. Mary looked me straight in the face and gaslit me. She told me she “couldn’t tell for sure” what the prescription was. It’s clear as day on top of the contact container it came in. Now they refuse to call me back after I’ve left several messages and sent them a couple of text messages. All I want is my order of contacts. I never asked for any of this and the trauma they caused by being forced to drive without the ability to see is insane and reckless. I really hope someone sees this so I can finally get my contacts ordered. If not, I guess I’ll have to find a new doctor. Dr. Donahue is great and wish I didn’t have to make this review. I will add my real prescription and the lenses that Gwen sent.
Everyone in the office was fantastic….I don’t have a single complaint! The receptionist that checked me in, the person who did all of my vision tests before the doctor came in, the doctor and then the person who explained everything to me! Dr. Pan was friendly and explained everything thoroughly and made sure I didn’t have any questions when I left the room. I worked in the medical field for many years and I would give all of the staff who I dealt with kudos for their attitudes and professionalism….with enough humor thrown in to make the experience well above average!! Thank you all!!
Was told that I owed $10 from 4 years prior and would not let me be seen until the payment was made. I paid cash on departure four years ago. Plus, I remember the window and let two other people cut me in line. The office refused to see me until remittance was made. The checkout staff called someone in Bay City, who said they could see the history, that no one had accessed the chart, and that I had never paid. False on every level. I wish I had not paid for treatment with cash. Never a phone call, never a bill sent in four years! What happened on their end, I don't know, just beware. The checkout staff stated I could not be seen unless I agreed to make that payment. So, I left without being seen. There are other clinics that are honest and care. The check-in staff was so rude and curt during the visit today. At the original visit in 2022, I felt like I was herded through the office. Dr Hasen walked in, took 2 mintues, and turned around and said I am not doing that anymore and walked out. Refused to come back into the room and answer any questions. Preoccupied and put out. Go somewhere else. Somewhere that will value you and your time and wants the best for you. Definitely not this office.
