Dr. Zhang was excellent with me being a new patient answering all my questions so throughly. She also fitted me for a new recommendation for contacts and was very informative. It was also wonderful customer service at the front desk, eye tests pre appointment and checking out. What a pleasant visit that I would recommend to anyone. My husband will be moving from his current doctor as well! Thank you!!!

THE GOOD- new and facility very nice. Staff was polite. Dr. Zhang was very clear and explained everything with her findings. THE BAD - They did not explain upfront that your copay does not cover everything in their "comprehensive" yet "mandatory" retina image scan. 2 times I told the staff I was only in for a basic eye exam and they smiled and said nothing about added charges. The Manager told me "the scan is how we do business". I replied that no matter what terminology they use, they need to tell people the cost up front so they have the opportunity to decline their service. The cost was waived at the end. Much longer discussion than they probably expected but I am sure it wasn't their first discussion on this subject.
The facility was very clean, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They see adults and children as well. They also do retinal imaging. Please consider this location if you need an optometrist.
Moving on after 5 years. This place used to be my go-to for eye appointments. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and professional. However I was denied a recent appointment because what used to be an optional picture of my retina was now mandatory. This was not communicated to me prior to attending the appointment. It also isn't covered by my insurance so naturally I was not going to pay extra. However every single person at this establishment told me it was mandatory even though the standard of care is a retinal exam via dilation drops. I asked for the dilation and they said they would have to bill my medical insurance, which is not true. Then they told me that I would still have to get the mandatory $50 picture. This day we can't afford to be nickled and dimed for unnecessary procedures because the doctors want a fancy office/machine/bigger paychecks. I'm taking my records and money elsewhere and I suggest you do the same unless you don't mind being taken advantage of. They aren't concerned about you as a patient, but a paycheck.
I went in to see Dr. Zhang after my wife and kids saw her and were very happy with the service that was provided. She is very thoughtful and attentive, she listened carefully to my concerns and thoroughly addressed them. My family is very satisfied with Bay Eye Center!
